the bigger picture of the situation aera was thrown into didn't quite hit her until far into the night when she was laying in an unfamiliar bed that was far from her four poster canopy bed her father had built her for her tenth birthday with walls full of decorations that weren't the wide array of colorful flowers and landscapes she's painted over the years.

she didn't even realize she was crying until it became hard for her to breathe, the girl trying hard to stay quiet seeing as it was probably early morning by now.

it hit her that she probably wouldn't be able to see her parents or her siblings for a long while. she wouldn't be able to go to love fest with her friends, she wouldn't be able to talk to her love chem professor about her problems, and most importantly she wouldn't be anywhere near home.

that stupid homesick feeling crept up on her all too quickly and all she could do was clutch her hand against her mouth to muffle whatever was coming out of it.

this whole thing was fucked up. who the hell sends two teenage cupids down to earth with no warning? she's never heard of that happening, ever.

she hadn't ever thought of coming to earth before the age of 20 which was usually when training ended and cupids were sent on missions. she wasn't prepared at all.

and although she still had her powers and knew how to do her job, the idea of working on a mission with absolutely no information about what the mission actually was is not only frustrating but scary.

they were past learning how to complete missions effectively, but that didn't mean she was ready. it was like going to a new school but like a thousand times worse because you're in a different city and none of the faces are familiar and you're the new odd one out.

nana had informed them that they were gonna go shopping for clothes they liked since they didn't exactly have time to pack anything from their closet and then they would visit the building she owned so she could introduce them to her employees.

she hadn't realized how late she stayed up until the alarm clock beside her was beeping and the sun peeked through the dusty pink curtains that hung from the bay window.

"woah, you look like shit, little dove. what happened to you?" soyeong was quick to snort the minute she walked into the kitchen with eye bags and messy hair. she glared at him, moving to sit at the round wooden table he was sat at.

"i know you guys don't exactly know the stores here and which store sells what so how about we go to a thrift store first and then once i see the initial style of clothes you like i'll take you to other stores." nana spoke with a smile as she placed two plates full of pancakes in front of them.

aera stared down at the plate, her eyes beginning to water as she looked at the toppings. call her dramatic, but literally nothing was going her way and in that moment all she wanted to do was cry some more. "she's allergic to strawberries." thank the gods for soyeong because she had already felt bad about the idea of having to decline such a nice offer.
