chapter 2
kegger chaos

as the woods' family car pulled into the driveway, angie felt a familiar sense of relief wash over her. the weight of the country club dinner slipped away like sand between her fingers. once inside her sanctuary, she closed the door and leaned against it, taking a deep breath. the walls were plain, boring at that. there was little decor that reflected her personality, but she loved her bedroom, it was her safe space.

she headed to her vanity, where a small bottle of hairspray sat next to her makeup collection. if beauty was a weapon, then angie had always been locked and loaded. she looked perfect all of the time, something she inherited from her mother. she glanced at herself in the mirror. at the blonde hair framing her face in soft, beachy curls. at her clear skin glowing under the light of the chandelier, the way it glistened as it hit the tip of her nose. her body, filled out in all of the right places as if hand sculpted; she wasn't skinny nor was she overweight, she was somewhere in the middle which was just right for her figure. ever since angie was a little girl, she was told how beautiful she was. she was perfect in every way. kook princess and heir to the throne of the obx.

with one last glance in the mirror, she grabbed her phone and headed for the door, her heart fluttering with anticipation. as she made her way down the stairs, she caught sight of her mother fussing over a houseplant in the living room.

"i'm meeting sarah and top at the beach." angie informed her mother, her head snapping towards her.

"okay, do you need a ride?" regina asked, causing angie to roll her eyes. the beach was no more than a ten minute walk from their house but regina had been taking extra precautions since her eldest daughters disappearance.

"no, it's fine, honestly, mom. it's like ten minutes." angie stated.

"just... be careful." regina sighed, watching as angie slipped out of the front door.

the evening air was warm, the sun dipping low on the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. she walked along the sandy path towards the beach, the excitement bubbled within her. the breeze tousled her hair, and the sound of distant chatter grew louder with each step signifying she was nearing her destination.

the salty air was thick with the sounds of laughter and music as angie stepped onto the beach, her flip-flops kicking up sand with each step. the kegger was in full swing, a bonfire crackling in the center cast a warm glow over the gathering. she was excited - keggers were the one time the kooks and pogues would set aside any differences for one night and party together.

"angie! over here!" sarah called, waving enthusiastically near the bonfire. topper stood beside her, a protective arm around her shoulders, looking every bit the quintessential kook he was. angie made her way over, heart racing as she took in the scene—people dancing and already feeling the effects of the night. sarah grinned, handing her a red cup that was already half full. angie hesitated, eyeing the murky contents.

she shook her head, glancing around. "i'm good for now." angie's eyes darted over familiar faces and new ones - tourons. suddenly, she spotted rafe cameron leaning against the lifeguard stand, hair tousled by the breeze, a drink in his hand and that familiar, devil-may-care grin plastered across his face. beside him stood kelce, which was nothing out of the ordinary. where rafe went, kelce wasn't far behind.

"rafe!" topper yelled, waving his arm at the boy before striding over. sarah and angie both sighed, following behind.

"hey angie." kelce greeted, offering her his cup - clearly noticing she was lacking one of her own.
