Regret flooded over Irtaza as he found Anum whimpering. Letting go of her hair, he gently massaged the area where he had just pulled.

"If you think I did anything wrong that day, then its your mistake."

"Listen to me, Jaan," he began, tenderly stroking her hair. "No husband would want his wife to keep thinking about her... ex," he added through gritted teeth. "I know you wouldn't like it if I told you that I will only love my ex-girlfriend. Would you?"

Anum shook her head slightly, in denial.

"That's what I thought," he continued. "Your physical pain is nothing compared to the pain I feel whenever I hurt you. A wife is supposed to love her husband. Why can't you love me?"

"You beat me. You curse and humiliate me. You even tried to h-hurt my b-brother. You've never given me a reason to like you, let alone love you," Anum replied between sobs.

"You've been tormenting Ayesha and her friend for so long. I was just trying to help them, but you..." Anum couldn't finish her sentence.

"Baby, you're too naive. Too trusting. You don't know them. That woman you thought was your friend actually planned to drug you so she can get money through you," Irtaza revealed, his jaw clenched in anger.

Anum looked at him in shock and shook her head in disbelief.

"I knew you wouldn't believe me. I knew it. Because my wife loves and trusts everyone except her own husband. That's why I recorded evidence for you," he explained.

He picked up his phone from the side table and scrolled through it before handing it to Anum, who took it hesitantly.

"Play it," he instructed, referring to the video on his phone.

With a shaky hand, she played the video. In it, Ayesha and her friend were tied to chairs, both badly beaten.

"P-please, we've already confessed so many times. It wasn't even my birthday; I made that up. I took Anum to the club so I could set her up with a man who would pay me a huge amount of money-" Ayesha's plea was cut short as one of Irtaza's men punched her in the face.

"Please forgive me. I really needed money for college, that's why I did that. Please let us go," Ayesha's friend begged, her voice trembling with fear.

Anum watched in horror as the truth unfolded before her eyes.

Tears streamed down Anum's face throughout the entire video, and she paused it, unable to bear watching it any further. Betrayal and hurt engulfed her as she handed the phone back to Irtaza.

"Now tell me, how do I stop myself from snapping their necks when they try to hurt my wife?"

"Release them," she said suddenly.

"What?" Irtaza responded, taken aback by her unexpected request.

"Please, release them. I don't want to be the reason for anyone's torment," Anum pleaded.

"You don't have to worry about that, sweetheart. Just focus on me," Irtaza said to her , gently wiping away her tears.

They stayed like that for a few minutes.

"Let's start over, baby. I want you to fall for me, love me, care for me just like I do for you. You've always been stuck in the past. I am your present and your future. Give this marriage a chance," he pleaded.

"No. Every time I think of giving you a chance, you hurt me,"

"Yeah, because you only 'think' of giving me a chance; you never actually do," he retorted.
