★𖦹★Ruby knew that she was different. Kindergarten is when she realized how different she really was from everyone. She was around five years old. Noticing you're different at a young age is hard. That's when comparing yourself starts. Rue noticed that all the other kids had a father. Why didn't she? All of the other kids were good in class. Why couldn't she be? All of the other kids could handle their emotions well. Why couldn't she? Why was she so short tempered? That's all that would play in her mind every second of every day. Why? Why? Why?
When she would try to reach out to her mom all that she would get was "UGH, Ruby just leave it alone." So as she got older she just left it alone. That doesn't mean it got better. Oh boy, no it got worse. When she was in the sixth grade her short temper just began to get worse. Her anger and jealousy just got the best of her. There was one person in general that just triggered Ruby. Her name was Angie. She was a pretty blonde girl with freckles and with what Ruby could see she had a good home life. She looked like the type of girl you see in little miss pageant shows using her daddy's money to buy her a new dress.
It wasn't just that Ruby was jealous of her. Angie was also kind of snobby. If that makes sense. She was kind of a bitch. For a twelve year old she was rude. And one of her victims was Ruby. It's not like she would make fun of Ruby or anything. She was just rude to other people. Not that Ruby could even be on that mic to talk. But sometimes Ruby couldn't help the fact she was bitchy. Angie on the other hand was just one because it gained her popularity. See there are two different types of bitchy. You have the girls who are just plain up rude and only act a certain way to get people going. Then there are the girls who were born a bitch and had bitchy parents. Basically, they can't help the fact that they are a bitch. That is Ruby's case here.
One afternoon, Ruby was sitting in her math class. Her least favored class. For some reason she was just terrible at it. No matter how many study sessions, how many teachers explain, or even how many times she cheated and still got it wrong. She just could not understand it. It's like the numbers to her weren't real, they just never looked right to her. Perhaps it was because she was dyslexic, but it still made her angry.
On this day in particular she was angry. They were in the middle of taking a test, and Ruby could not understand what she was reading let alone even doing. To make matters worse Angie was the first one done. All Ruby could think of was the audacity of this bitch. When you're the first person done with your test, sometimes it feels good to know that you're better than everyone else. In Angie's case she has small talk in the back with herself. No one ever knew her point of this. But it pissed Ruby off, and on this day was the day that Ruby had enough of her bull shit.
"This test was super easy, I don't know why it's taking some people soooo loonngg" Angie said dragging out her words in a faint whisper so only the kids around her could hear. Ruby was done with her bs. She sat her pencil down, took a deep breath, slowly turned to her right, and said "Can you just shut the fuck up? Or is that impossible for people like you to do?" The whole class turned around and gasped, they're acting like they've never heard someone cuss before. Angie on the other hand was shocked her jaw on the floor. For a second Ruby could see tears forming. I guess this was the first time someone told her to shut the fuck up.
"RUBY JOHNSON!" her math teacher Ms.Bennot shouted. "Apologize right now, and maybe I won't send you to detention." Ms.Bennot was saying, but Ruby could care less about some detention, she was not fixing to apologize to anyone. It just wasn't something that she did. "No...I'm sorry Ms.Bennot but I'm not going to say "sorry"" Ruby said shrugging her shoulders. "let's say if I were to apologize, that would be lying, and I'm sorry Ms.Bennot but i just don't stand for that." she paused for a moment "But i do have something I could be sorry for" She turned back to Angie "I'm sorry that you are such a bitch" She said with a smile turning back to Ms.Bennot. "RUBY DETENTION NOW!"
No one told Ruby that when you get so many detentions they call your parents. Now Ruby was sitting outside the principal's office waiting for her mom, Camila to come out. Ruby never really got along with her mom. She never really knew why either. It's not like she hated her mom, that was never the case. She loved her mom more than anything. But when you love someone who acts like they don't feel the same you begin to drift apart. "I am so sorry about Ruby, I don't know what has gotten into her recently. I didn't even know she was getting in this much trouble. But I assure you it won't happen anymore." She could hear her mom talking to the principal. "Ruby, get your stuff we are going home" Her mom told her with a look of disappointment in her eyes. Ruby just rolled her eyes.
.𑁍.
"RUBY! Don't you walk away from me" her mother shouted as they both walked into their home. All the way home Ruby got a talk on her behavior at school, home, and just everything in general. Ruby wasn't really listening because her mom was just telling her stuff she already knew. Nothing she hasn't realized before. "Rue, please just talk to me. Why have you changed so much" her mom said, giving up, she sighed as she set her hands on the counter placing her keys down.
Ruby stopped. Is she for real? Now that the school is involved she wants to finally reach out to her daughter. Ruby loved her mom. But her mom just liked Ruby, she still cared for her but she never showed her any love. She never paid attention to her. "I don't know mom, why have I changed so much?" she said, turning to her mom. "I personally don't think I've changed, maybe to you" she paused "You know it's hard to tell if things changed when you weren't there to see them from the beginning" Ruby said turning around and storming off into her room.
