Starting the day with a small pooja I entered the kitchen. Yesterday seemed like a dream now, but the necklace that athai gifted me kept on reminding me of reality. Aradhya came home with some laddoos to celebrate her 10th results. Periya mama had already informed me yesterday that they would come home around the afternoon so I decided to cook their favorites for lunch with the help of Aradhya. "Enna ka enna special inikku? Ivlo saapaadu seira." She asked to which I smiled. "Enna ka un Veera mama varaangala?" She asked and I looked at her surprised. "Nee ivlo item pannum podhey lite ah doubt vandhuchu" she giggled. "Vaalu" I said as I concentrated on making mushroom biryani. She cut vegetables for me sitting on the floor in the kitchen. She entertained me by her singing and soon I joined her after completing the preparation of butter chicken. "Lunch nee inga dha saapdanum kanamma. Na amma kita solliten", she nodded happily and continued her work.

By noon periya mama had arrived with athai, Veera, and Daksh. Receiving them at the entrance I led them to the sofa. "Enna thango? Smell semaya varudhu. Enna special?" Athai asked. "Neenga vareenga nu konjam special preparations athai" I replied as I led her to the kitchen. Hearing us nearing the kitchen Aradhya stepped out of the kitchen. "Adade idhu yaaru thango?" My athai asked on seeing her. "Iva dha en kutty kanamma. Kanamma idhu dha en athai." I introduced them to each other. "Aaha andha kanamma nee dhaana? Unna pathi nethu Dharani neraiya sonna da kutty. Una pathi ketappove unna enakku romba pudichu pochu da." Saying so athai pinched her cheeks to which she giggled. We three entered the kitchen and athai glanced at all the preparation. "Yen da ivlo vela senja?" Athai asked. "Adhellam apdi dha athai. Akka oda love language la onnu food. Avangalukku yaarellam pudikumo avangalukku nalla samachi kuduthutte irupaanga. Neenga evlo sonnaalum keka maatanga." Aradhya replied and athai came near and kissed my forehead. I could finally feel a motherly touch after years and cherished the moment. Aradhya noticed me getting emotional. "Athai naanum dha akka ku help pannen!" Aradhya chirped distracting my mind. We laughed at her and Gauri athai pulled her cheeks before kissing them. We chit-chatted and giggled as we arranged the food on the dining table.

Athai called periya mama, Veera, and Daksh to the table. Everyone settled to eat. Veera sat opposite to me and Aradhya sat next to me. "Athai Shiva enga?" I asked. "Veera mama ve nalla college ah paathu sollatum mama. Na BA Tamil panren." Veera looked at me and nodded. "Thango saapadu sema da!" Athai said after taking her first bite. "Habba na kuda solla marandhuduveengalo nu nenachittten". I looked at Aradhya and chuckled and then periya mama, daksh and veera started eating too. Veera moaned to the taste. "Thaaye enna manichidu aana un marumaga saapadu unnodadha vida pramadhama irukku", Veera said to which we all chuckled. "Ryt ra ryt uh. Enakku purinji pochu. Naalaiku na dhaane soru podanum apo gavanichikren. But thango sapaadu nejamaale super." "Thanks athai. But Shiva ku dha kuduthu vaikla" I completed but I heard someone say "Aama aama". I turned to Aradhya. "Haiyo akka. Paavam manushanukku ivlo nalla saapadu kuduthu vaiklaye nu dha sonnen" and then she silently continued hoping I would not hear, "indha Chennai veyil la manushan enga suthittu irukaaro" she completed. I looked at her accusingly and Athai chuckled understanding. The men continued eating unaffected. She gestured as zippping her mouth and soon finished eating too. She finishes fast. She touched everyone's feet for blessing. She told them to continue their food and bless seated. Athai handed her a 50rupees note which she refused and sprinted to her home as her mother would be waiting.
