Harry’s P.O.V.
I’d have to say waking up are hands down the worst feeling ever in this world.
My head was pounding painfully when I opened my eyes. The bright light entered my eyes, causing me to blink quite a number of times. I tried to move my hand over my eye but my body doesn’t seem to be as awake as my brain is right now. The pounding was constant but not something I can’t cope with. When my eyes adjusted to the light on top of me, I looked around hoping to find out why my mind was having a huge blank spot in it.
This is not my room.
There’s white everywhere and it stinks of antiseptic and…death. I propped my elbows by my sides and sat up. My head whirled around a little until it finally settled down. I’m in a hospital. Why am I in a hospital? I look down at my hands and knees and noticed that they were unharmed. I touched my head and felt something soft that is definitely not my hair.
I have a bandage around my head. Shit. Did I get into a car accident? No way, my body is unharmed. Fell from the stairs? Highly unlikely. Hit myself onto a cupboard? Maybe.
Before I could come to a conclusion of what happened, Gemma walked into the room. She looked pretty disheveled for a young lady. She’s always one to make sure she looks nice in public. I really don’t understand that part about girls sometimes. They look beautiful just the way they are.
“H-Harry?”
“Gemma.” So far, my memories only come up to a point where I woke up in the morning after reconciling with Gem and it’s just blank after that. Maybe I did hit my head on a cupboard.
Gemma ran out of the room without even responding to me. What is with that girl? It’s not like I’ve been sleeping for months…A few minutes later, she came back with the lads.
“Harry!” They chorused together. I was soon tackled into a huge hug from all of them. I can’t really remember the last time I felt like this.
“Hey lads.” I said. They released me and took a good look at me. Except for Liam though, he looked like he was having a heated conversation with me through our eyes.
“How are you?” Zayn asked.
“Aside from the pounding in my head, I’m fine.”
“Can’t blame you. You got hit on the head pretty hard.” Niall said.
“Hit on the head?”
“You don’t remember?” Louis asked.
I shook my head in response.
“The hospital called us in the middle of the night. They said that they found you and Lanna passed out by the roadside—“
“Lanna?” I whispered and looked down at my hands. It was all coming back now.
The day at the fun fair. When I asked her to escape with me. The place where I pinned her down. What happened after she left. How she came to save me. The sound of the bullet shot towards us. The pained look etched in her face. Her collapsing in my arms.
I looked up at the lads quickly and asked the only question that seemed right to be asked at this moment.
“Where’s Lanna?”
The lads frowned when I asked the question.
Guess who’s fucked for the rest of his life?
ME.
“She’s in the Intensive Care Unit. They found you guys half an hour after the call. The bullet wound was infected and too much blood was seeping through it. They managed to retrieve the bullet safely from the wound but she lost a huge amount of blood. Her arm won’t be functioning for about a month or so.” Louis said.
