11 - A Burning Star

Meggy ran into the room,only to stop in shock as she watched Saiko fall from a heated stove.Her face was burnt to the point you could see the flesh creeping out of the skin.Meggy backed up in fear,only to be stopped by a hand on her shoulder.She slowly looked back,seeing Mario's face covered by the shadows.

Meggy: M-Mario..What happened..Why is she-

Mario: I'm sorry,Meggy..But you weren't supposed to be here.

Meggy: What..

Meggy felt something cold running down her shoulder.she turned her gaze on it,seeing a knife plunged into her.She fell to her knees as the blood trickled down.

Meggy: Mario please,you don't have to do this,we can all get out of here..

Mario: ..If so..Then why am I watching my friend's die.

Meggy: Mario- wait..You're not speaking right.

Mario's shoulders dropped as he turned around,there was a bright yellow glow on his eyes..

Meggy: What the-

Mario then charged at her.Meggy picked herself up and moved out the way.She limped over to the counter and wrapped a napkin around her wound.

Meggy: I don't know who you are or why you're in my friend's body..But I will fight.

Meggy took her splattershot out from under the table and began firing at Mario.The orange ink pushed him back,but he won't give up.He lunged at Meggy,attempting to stab her,although the blade went through her sleeve.She tore herself free and gave herself some room to keep shooting.Mario dodged most shots before the ink hit his face,making him stumble back.Without seeing,he swung the knife.Meggy covered herself and when she put her arms down,she looked a little surprised.

Meggy: Oh uh..Red?

Mario wiped the ink off his face and looked down,seeing he had cut his hand off.Obviously frightened,he screamed.

Meggy: Hey,it's okay!We can..Maybe patch it up when we get back to the room.

Mario nodded and pulled his arm away from the counter.Meggy looked over at Saiko's body and sighed.

Meggy: Well..We should keep this a secret.

Mario: ..Okay.

The two dragged the body over to the storage room and hid it there.They were about to head back when Meggy saw the basement was open.

Mario: You coming?

Meggy: I'll catch up.

Mario looked a little worried but left the room.Meggy looked down i to the basement,seeing a mask laid down in the light.Meggy raised a brow,trying to look closer at the mask's details.However by doing that,she almost fell in.She had luckily caught herself a sighed..But then saw something dragging the mask up.She looked behind her,seeing nothing but darkness.Her gaze turned back to the mask,it was now above the door of the basement.She hesitantly took the mask in her hands,analysing it closely.

Meggy: Who are you..Why are you doing these things to my friends.?..No,I'm not going down with them,you can't make me...kill them.?

Meggy soon had enough and threw the mask back into the basement.With only that,it snapped in two and the whole room was coated in a shadow..Meggy felt herself being dragged in.

Meggy: Get off me!

She yanked herself out of its grasp,only to get sucked in.Meggy felt like falling down an endless pit..It reminded her of when she was visiting Peach and the sunken castle.She readied herself and landed.Looking up,she saw a dark hallway beyond her,similar to the one from when she was in that simulation.She began walking through,looking around the rundown place.She kept goimg until finding the room she saw Wren in.Meggy opened the stiff doors,the tank was cracked snd broken to bits.She came closer,seeing some tan ink attached to wires..It disturbed her,who knew this is what happened after..

Meggy: Hello.?I saw your mask..Are you anywhere around?..Just show a sign.

Meggy waited before she saw the wires picking up the ink.She watched as the ink mend into shape of the former champion.Meggy backed away,horrified of the appearance.

Meggy: Okay,you're here,hi.!Please put that away!

By command,the ink dropped back into goop.Meggy shivered and took steps back to the tank.She saw the same mask on the goop.She picked it up,wiping the ink off it.The hospital atmosphere then vanished,the mask staying in her hands.Meggy's eyes narrowed in suspicion but took the mask anyway.She went back the room,seeing Mario standing there.

Meggy: I'm back guys,sorry I took a while.

Meggy put the mask down on the table and looked at Mario,who was wide eyed and looking at the ceiling.

Meggy: Mario.?

Meggy heard a squeak from the corner,looking there to see Tari sitting down with her hands over her mouth.Meggy was curious but felt something dripping on her shoulder.She looked up,now realising what they were looking at..

Bob and SMG3's bodies were hanging on a ceiling fan,Bob had the blade of the fan in his body as the blades of his arms impaled SMG3.Meggy moved away in fear before they heard a voice.

Bob: Ow,this really hurts.

Meggy: BOB?!You're still alive!

Bob: Duh,I can't di-

Bob's body then vanished and SMG3's fell to the ground.But instead of blood,some jam poured out of him.

Meggy: H-Holy..

Mario: Should we clean that up.?

Tari let out a sound of pure disgust,wiping the icky stuff away from her mouth.
