The next few hours are a sort of blur in my mind, recanting my dream over and over for different people. Sonia sends for Rauru, and Rauru sends for Mineru when he arrives. After about an hour of scouring books for more information and interrogating me about every other detail of my vision, they send for the other three sages present in the castle.
They arrive, looking sleepy but solemn, and we all pack tightly into the tiny secret library. The Rito sage and the Goron sage take up a considerable amount of space, which does not make it any better. The Zora woman stands next to me, looking slightly squashed and very much annoyed. I explain my dream for the hundredth time, including how Ganondorf had somehow gained possession of a secret stone. Mineru goes a little pale, but explains to the others what she has found on the secret stones.
"There is, allegedly, one for each of the sages," she says, a little shakily, "it seems as if they must be found- I don't think there is a way to manufacture them. I am still looking into where they would be located, but they would be very helpful in helping to defeat this calamity. If he manages to find one, however, it could be disastrous."
The sages nod in agreement, mulling over just how bad this could be.
"There are... seven sages, right?" I ask uncertainty, "usually, four of them emerge as the leaders of the four major towns. Is Ganondorf the sage of lightning?"
"No," King Rauru says, shaking his head, "he has never shown any signs of possessing that power. There is something unnatural about him, though- the way he fights, the way he walks, the way he controls his followers. We've had a bad feeling about him for a while."
"Do we know where the sage of lightning is?" I ask.
"We don't," he says, shaking his head again, "we believe, however, that it may be one of his generals, Risa. She has been the most openly opposed to him during his rise, and she has shown small signs of power."
I nod, then look around the room. There are seven of us, including me. Where do I fit into all of this? I'm silent for a minute while the others speculate more.
"What about me?" I ask, and six heads turn towards me.
"What do you mean?" Mineru asks, confused.
"There are seven stones. I am an eighth sage. Where did this stone come from?"
Everyone is quiet.
"You said you found it before you came here, with a man in the dungeons?" asks Sonia.
"Yes, before he awakened. I think it may have amplified my powers enough for Link and I to make it here,'' I say.
"If it is truly a time stone, then it must have belonged to the sage of time- me," she says slowly, "if that man had my stone, then something must have happened. Something bad."
"He... he looked familiar, the man in the dungeons," I say, dreading my own thoughts, "what if- what if he was Ganondorf?"
We all look back at the picture on the table, the man surrounded by flames and destruction. It sounds implausible, but to be fair, I did travel hundreds of years through time to get here. Not to mention that I was transported to exactly this moment after meeting him. Could all of it somehow be connected? What exactly are we up against?
After a little more theorizing and flipping through books, I am sent back to my rooms with direct orders to get some sleep. Mineru tells me that there is no need for study in the morning, seeing as we've been at it all night. I have the day off. Carefully opening the secret door, I leave the warm and cramped room and start to walk back to my own.
The hallways are quiet and cool, a relief after the stuffiness of the library. The sun is just beginning to peek over the mountains to the east, painting the sky with light oranges and pinks. Birdsong drifts through the windows, and the world outside is damp and slightly battered from last night's storm. It's beautiful, really.
