Henry

The door to the florists is covered in dozens of hand painted flowers that I try not to stare at for too long before grabbing the handle and pulling the door open. It swings open wildly, being a lot lighter than I anticipated it being when I yanked on it. The employees inside turn to see the clumsy fool that just almost broke the door off of their establishment as I walk in.

Thankfully it is only one young woman who offers me a polite smile while she hands a newly sold bouquet to an elderly woman at the counter. The older woman turns and walks out the door just as I walk up to the counter.

"Hi Henry," she says with another polite smile.

"Hey Jessica."

"The usual?" she asks, her hands reaching towards the register.

I nod in response, glancing around the room. I spot one of the premade bouquets set on display on the opposite wall with red roses scattered throughout and find my mind wandering.

"Actually Jessica," I start, pulling her attention to me while her fingers halt. "Could I add another one? With some of those red roses?"

Jessica turns, her eyes following where my fingers point. She turns back to face me, nodding quickly with a smile and entering the additional bouquet into the register.

"Sure thing." she begins, printing a receipt out for me and sliding it across the counter. "She's a lucky girl."

I feel a blush rise on the top of my cheeks and chuckle, running a hand through my hair absentmindedly. Jessica finishes gathering the bouquets and hands them all to me while I hand her the money and slip a few dollar bills into the tip jar next to the register.

"Thanks Henry."

"See you next week," I respond, heading towards the door.
