You wake up to a hand, limp on your cheek and Jamison's face close to yours. You both must've shifted in your sleep, because...Your. Hand. Is. On. His. CHEST. You pull it away quickly, the sudden movement causing your friend to stir.

"Hmm?" He says groggily as slowly opens his eyes to see you staring back at him. "G'mornin" he says sleepily as he becomes more alert, finally realizing where his hand is.

Pulling his own hand away now, he sheepishly says "sorry," with a nervous chuckle. You both look away, the tension so thick you could cut it with a knife. Yet the both of you are too oblivious to see it.

"How did you sleep?" You ask as you sit up, throwing your legs over the edge of the bed as you stretch. He shifts onto his back, propping his head up with his arm. "Best sleep I've had in years." He says coyly.

"I'm happy to hear that," you reply happily as you stand up and stretch, "you hungry, big guy?" You ask, as you continue to stretch, making sure your muscles are ready for the day.

"I'm famished!" He says dramatically as he drapes the back of his hand over his forehead. You chuckle and head towards the kitchen, "let's see what we have that can feed an entire whale." You joke back.

Browsing through your kitchen, you realize that you have supplies to make some banana pancakes. You haven't had these in a while, you and your mom used to make them together all the time.

You gather all the ingredients and put on an apron to avoid getting flour on your clothes you intend on spending the day in.

I begin by combining 1 1/2 cups of flour, 2 1/2 tsp baking powder, 2 tbsp sugar, and 1/2 tsp salt in a bowl whisking the mixture together thoroughly before setting aside. Now for the fun part, I peel the banana that has started to brown and smush it with a fork in a separate bowl. Then I add 2 eggs to the banana bowl and mix it with the same fork until combined. I add roughly 1 cup of milk, typically a little more since it turns out so thick. Then I add some vanilla extract, I've always just eyeballed it, but just a dribble. Finally I can combine the banana mixture with the powder, and add in about 3 tbsp of melted, unsalted butter. I gently fold the mixture with a silicone spatula until everything is fully combined, checking for any dry spots, not worried about the clumps. I place my pan on the stove and heat it up on medium heat, adding butter and swirling it around to coat the pan as I scoop the batter into the pan, striving for 4 inch pancakes. I sing quietly to myself as I domestically make the rest of the pancakes; watching as the bubbles form on each one, and flipping them to a nice golden color on the other side. I stack them onto a plate, preparing a side of syrup, whipped cream, and some sliced bananas to top it with. Of course I don't forget to lightly coat each pancake with a swipe of butter before calling for Jamison.

"Jamison! The pancakes are ready!" You call out, turning around to see him already sitting at the island, watching you finish up. "Oh.. heyyy." You say nervously, wondering how long he's been sitting there. You didn't even hear the sneaky bastard despite his loud demeanor.

"Looks great!" He chirps as he looks at the spread in front of him. "Enjoy~" you say with a smile, as you stand across from him with a single pancake on your plate. You typically don't eat so soon after waking up, but couldn't resist this exception.

"This reminds me of the sleepovahs we used to 'Ave!" He says with a loud chuckle. "We used to eat these all the time." He beams at you as he digs in. Seeing him feast, inspires you to start in on your mini version of his spread.

You savor the taste, reminiscing the memories you associate with these pancakes. Both sharing jokes and laughing about the past, especially the amount of trouble you both got into.
