"Are you ready for the weekend?" Lando nudges my shoulder, pushing me out of my thoughts

I turn to him with a quick nod, "yeah, of course, just focused"

"Thia" He looks at me knowingly to which I roll my eyes

"F1 cars are much faster, I hardly survived Monaco in an F2 car"

"You've done amazing at all the other street circuits, and you won Monaco last year, I know you'll be amazing"

"I know, it's just everyone is putting so much pressure on me to do well, I read what they say-"

"Well that was your first mistake, never read what anyone says about your driving"

"To late, and they're all saying how Monaco will finally prove that I can't handle being in F1"

"They're either jealous bitches or cunts that can't accept that a woman is better than a man" I laugh at his reasoning

"Thank you Lando, i'll see you later" He nods with a smile, turning towards the McLaren hospitality as I head towards Ferrari

It's Saturday, meaning qualifying.

I've been so caught up on Amelia being here and trying to get her to talk to Max that I haven't let myself think, and now I finally am and it's all crashing down on me.

I make it to my garage, everyone around me is busy doing their jobs so I easily make my way to my drivers room without being stopped

Once i'm inside I close the door, right as i'm about to put my AirPods in, my phone begins to vibrate

my dads calling.

I already know my dad isn't happy with me, I don't want to deal with this right now

But I do anyway

I pull the phone to my ear, bracing myself for what's to come

"Alethia Verstappen"

"Good afternoon, dad" I sit against the wall, looking down at my lap

"Stop with the formalities you know why I called"

"To wish me good luck?" I know I shouldn't be using sarcasm right now, it'll only make this worse but I do it anyway

"Four races and you've only won one? I don't even want to talk to you right now Alethia" then don't. You'd be doing me a favor

"I know dad, i'm trying to be better"

"Your brother won three already, it's clearly not my coaching that's making you such a screw up"

"Max is in a red bull, dad, and he's a good driver"

"So you're blaming your mistakes on your brother? This isn't about him, this is about you"

"I won a race" And never got a congratulations.

"Max has won 13"
