"We're going out tonight, right?" Lando's smile is bright as he asks me
"You finished fourth and you still seem more excited about this than me"
He shrugs, "You're to hard on yourself Thia, the result was great you deserve to party"
"Fine, but only because I want to hang out with Octavia more" As if on que, she walks up from behind him, putting her hand on his arm for a split second to alert him of her presence
Octavia- "I just got here and your friends already like me more than you Lan" She laughs jokingly to which he rolls his eyes
Lando- "Don't get ahead of yourself, you're still a stranger" He's smiling down at her and suddenly, I couldn't feel more like a third wheel
Why do they have to be so cute together?
"Well i'll let you love birds hang out, see you tonight!" I quickly leave before they can protest the title
"What's got you smirking?" Charles looks at me amused as I enter the Ferrari garage
"Lando and Octavia totally like each other and they're denying it"
"You were talking to Lando? Did he convince you to come to the club with everyone"
"You're telling me this was a planned thing?" I jokingly glare at him with my arms crossed
"I blame Max" he raises his hands in defense, a smile on his face
"Smooth" I laugh shaking my head

I post the story before putting my phone down to put my attention back on my friendsLando, Octavia, Max, Amelia, Charles, Pierre, Arabella, and I are all sat in a booth together talking
Arabella is a famous actor that Octavia's friends with, she's been invited to a few races as a guest but we had never spoken before tonight
She's been talking with Pierre a lot, she'd be good for him
I look over to where Charles is, he's clearly celebrating his win, a huge smile on his face as he finishes another drink
I'm not even sure how many he's had by now, but i'm glad he's enjoying himself
Amelia- "Come on! We should go dance!" She gets up quickly, grabbing my hand and signaling for the other girls to follow us
We all laugh and follow her
The four of us are yelling lyrics at one another, dancing and spinning each other around
We dance through countless songs, refusing to leave our spots on the dance floor
Despite loosing my win, I still decide to celebrate and enjoy the night with everyone
I'm laughing with Octavia when I feel a pair of warm hands slide onto my waist
My eyebrows knit together at the strangers touch, I turn around to tell them to stop when i'm met with Charles' green eyes
He has a smirk on his face as he pulls me closer to his chest, "don't let me stop you from dancing, love"
What is this man on?
I ignore the out of character sentence and let myself enjoy the moment, possibly a little to much.
I have a smile on my face as the music gets progressively louder, I can feel the base through my body
My hands slide up his chest as I look him up and down, assessing his outfit fully for the first time tonight
My eyes stop scanning his as our gazes meet, a pit forming in my stomach
We don't look away, speaking a thousand words we can never say. Unspoken agreements in replacement for our incapability to truly talk. The ghost of chains wrapped around us, denying us the freedom to speak.
I'd feel constrained if it weren't for the fact that speaking, means hurting myself ten times more than the strangling sensation of the cold metal ever could.
He leans his body closer to mine, finally adverting his gaze as his lips graze over my ear
"You want me, and it's killing you" the words run a chill through my spine, freezing me in my place as he pulls away, now being the one to analyze me. His smirk taunts me, peeling away at the wall i've built in defiance of him
"Let it kill me" I can't stop myself before his lips find mine, goosebumps arising on my tanned skin
His lips are so foreign, yet familiar. So dangerous, yet comforting.
I've shamefully spent more moments than I care to admit thinking about the sensation the arises when his lips are on mine.
Somehow, four years later, it feels better than I could've ever imagined.
My hands slide up to his neck, one of them running through his brunette hair while the other sits against his cheek
Kissing him is a drug. As if i'm a teenager, a guilty feeling overwhelming you as you take the illegal substance, knowing your parents will be disappointed but not being able to stop yourself.
He's the high you receive once, and spend the rest of your life attempting to replicate it.
He pulls himself away from my lips, finding his way to my neck, his hot breath fanning over my sensitive skin.
I turn my head to allow him better access, my hand still grabbing onto his hair as if grounding me.
Charles Leclerc is a lethal substance you spend your life trying to avoid, yet it keeps finding its way to you. Taunting you with the feeling you'll experience once you give in. The euphoric state only he can offer me. It's addictive, and i've just found my way back in.
A never ending cycle. An inevitable downfall. Charles Leclerc is like gambling. You get pulled in by the appealing amenities, the sparkle in his eyes, his dimples as he smiles, the traits that force you to relax when around him. You feel safe, betting away your heart in the gamble for love. You're told you'll get it back, you just have to keep playing. But the second he hurts you, the second the casino wins, it all comes crashing down.
You find yourself willing to bet everything you have left to get that sensation back. You've already lost your heart to the cycle, and yet you bet your soul, too. The casino takes, and takes, and takes, until there's nothing left for you to give. You think it's your fault, for being so gullible, so naive in the chase for love. Charles wants you to think your downfall was the result of your own actions, when the casinos built upon your loses, not your wins. They don't profit off your happiness, your success, they're only winning when they're disintegrating you into nothing but another one of their accomplishments, and Charles has just found another willing candidate.
