Soren had dressed inconspicuously like a student of the academy, wearing our typical colors and uniform. He even wore the correct shoes. Perhaps he raided Elias's closet or knew where to find the academy's extra supplies. He did have magic, I remembered. But it was likely he borrowed some from Elias's stash.

"How did you know?" Renor asked, sniffling while looking up at Soren.

He flashed her that handsome, wolfish grin. "That's a secret for another time. But are you two alright... from your journey? Did something happen?" he inquired looking mostly at Renor.

"We are okay. But we did get caught by one of my instructors for questioning. Elias... they still haven't let him out. It's definitely an interrogation at this point, or worse, I can only assume," I replied to Soren.

He frowned. "That's not good," Soren added, shaking his head in disdain.

"And to make matters worse, Renor's boyfriend is being quiet unsupportive about her gift," I added.

Soren looked at Renor's innocent, cherub-like face. A few tears still silently trailed their way down her cheeks, her eyes staring at the floor of the cafeteria.

He gently reached out a hand, wiping away each tear individually. It was such a kind act that I couldn't help but smile at the two of them. Perhaps Elias's suspicions were right after all. Soren had appeared when Renor was upset, as if he felt her emotions, and now was comforting her most sweetly. It made my heart feel for Elias, straining in concern.

She flashed him a smile, gently moving his hand away and stating, "I am okay. It was just a bit hard to fully digest his reaction at first." She gave another, small sniffle, which I almost thought I'd imagined as it was so quiet. I let these two have their moment without interrupting.

"But... I do have a boyfriend, Soren. I want to make it clear that I am off the market. Unavailable," she continued, holding her arms up in a crossed X shape. A signal of no.

Soren sighed. "No worries, Seer. I am simply an Enchanter supporting fellow gifted people. Enchanters. Humans. Anything really, but I am just a friend," he crooned, emphasizing his words very slowly.

I rolled my eyes. I think these two would figure out there may be more swept underneath the table soon enough. I wouldn't mention that to Renor yet, but I would talk to her about that reaction from her boyfriend. An unsupportive one at that.

"Renor, on a serious note, that reaction from Minen was not acceptable. I am fine if you two talk things out, but if he is angered that quickly... imagine what would happen if he was irate. He has never been violent, before right?" I asked, remembering how Minen had slammed the table with his hands before arising.

She shook her head, slowly, looking a bit defeated. "No... but he has his outbursts at times," she mentioned quietly, in a hushed whisper.

My face scrunched up in disappointment. I had thought those two were happy. Usually, Minen always acted kind and cheerful when he was with Renor around me. I had no idea he had his... moments.

"Why... why didn't you tell me sooner? But he has never hurt you, right?" I pressed the matter in a serious tone.

She violently shook her head no this time, as if to immediately quell my worries. "No. I promise. He has never laid a hand on me. But occasionally he has punched a wall or slammed something when I talked about my predictions in the past. Or anything to do with what he labels as rumors and fantasies," she replied.

I was glad, and relief swept over me that nothing violent towards Renor had been going on.

"But, I didn't tell you sooner," she added on sheepishly, "because I didn't want you to advise me to break up with him."
