Gold Crest High School was the most expensive private school in South Korea. It was located in Seoul and the students that attended it were from freakishly rich families that owned huge businesses and companies.
Felix had been attending the school for 5 years since he moved here from Australia. His family owned the second most successful designer company in Seoul.
Coming from a pretty rich family, he was obliged to follow his parents' orders. Ever since he was young, he was taught how to talk to elders, to bow in respect, how to eat in a well-mannered way, always agree with his parents, and use all these fancy 'rich people' words and phrases in surprisingly clever ways.
His parents weren't the type who spoiled Felix. There was a limit to everything he was given. His parents were willing to fill his pockets with money as long as he remained well-behaved and got good grades until he graduated and got a stable career.
Sometimes, being rich was hard, even for those who were spoiled.
At least it is hard when you're with normal people. The ones that aren't rich but aren't poor. Somewhere in between.
The only reason his parents agreed to move him to a private school was because the students at the public school he went to were the type who could never shut their mouths. For them, being poor makes you a burden to your family. Being rich means you're a selfish spoiled brat.
Either way, you're bad.
When you're in a private school, let alone an expensive one, you're bound to be around people who are from rich families like yours. You can relate to them. Sometimes.
Felix was very well known at this school. He had a good reputation. No one disliked him nor had any reason to. His friend group and social circle were pretty big too.
Apart from being rarely lonely, there were many advantages of having a lot of friends. It was like having eyes and ears in the school.
Felix always knew what was happening around him, even in situations that didn't concern him. Almost everyone did, just depending on how it got out or who hears.
However, the thing he hears about almost every single day, or more accurately, every single hour in school is about this one particular student.
Hwang Hyunjin.
Hyunjin was what all the girls ever talked about. They talked about how handsome and tall he was. He too, had a lot of friends but was usually seen hanging out with just one, which was the famous Kim Seungmin.
People say Hyunjin and Seungmin have been close friends since they were young. Seungmin may be the only person Hyunjin ever treats....nicely.
Hyunjin wasn't actually a fuckboy (like Felix had kinda expected him to be when he moved to Gold Crest). If anything, Hyunjin looked at girls like they were aliens. The more girls loved him, the more he despised them.
He kept his distance but girls, the ones who go to extreme points just for a guy, kept invading his somewhat of a 'personal space'.
Every day, if he opened his locker, it would be filled with a million cards, flowers, chocolates, and.... pink stuff.
Even when he went to class, there would be proposal or confession cards on his desk with even more flowers and 'pink stuff'.
Hyunjin being somewhat of a dick, just chucks out those lovely cards, pretty flowers, and pink stuff in the trash because he never cared about them nor did he seem like he ever would.
At this point, Felix was convinced that Hyunjin hated girls. It makes Felix wonder why the school girls still bother putting up with him.
Though, Felix had never talked to Hyunjin, not even once. They have many classes together and half of the time, both of them barely knew the other existed. Well, Hyunjin seems to barely know Felix exists. Felix couldn't bring himself to care.
However, the things apart from girls getting their hearts broken isn't the only thing about Hyunjin that people talk about.
The gossip is all in....the gloves.
Anyone who comes to this school has noticed that Hyunjin wears a pair of black gloves every day and he never takes them off. Using his rich family privilege, he manages to opt out of PE lessons, where he doesn't have to change into a whole other uniform.
Even if it was burning hot, Hyunjin was never seen with his gloves off.
Some people say that Kim Seungmin was the only person in the entire school who knew why Hyunjin wore those gloves.
But no matter what happened at school with Hwang Hyunjin, Felix just couldn't bring himself to care.
Until one point made him turn.
