I wake up in the morning, groggily rubbing the sleep from my eyes. Thinking back on the previous night's events, I decided that it might be best if I reached out to Caroline to apologize for my bad behavior. Even though I'm not really sorry, I figure it might help to smooth things over and maintain the peace for now.
I get up and head straight to the shower, feeling the warm water wash away the remnants of sleep. The thought of school looming ahead is a reminder of the chaos that's been swirling around us lately. But, thank goodness for small mercies, Caroline seems to have forgiven me for my behavior last night. Little does she know; that I saved her life. There's far more to me than meets the eye.
I step out of the shower and wrap a towel around myself, quickly drying off and applying my skincare routine. I choose a classic pleated skirt, a white cami, and my trusty combat boots. As I slide on my oversized leather jacket, I remember that I left my favorite fitted one in Damon's car. I make a mental note to grab it later, but for now, this oversized piece will have to do.
As I walk to school, the sounds of indistinct chatter echo through the air. I spot Caroline, standing with a group of friends.
I catch sight of Damon in his car as I'm heading towards Caroline. A mixture of annoyance and unease washes over me, but I force myself to keep walking. I have to deal with him at some point, so I might as well get it over with.
