The Eclipse

Finally, it was break time, just in time for the Eclipse. I walk back to the office area and reach in my backpack for my solar eclipse glasses. Good thing I brought a couple of pairs just in case someone else wanted to look at it safely. Before I could turn around, I felt little taps on my back and looked back realizing Blaize was tapping his fingers on my back to which I began to laugh as it kind of tickled.

"Didn't know you were ticklish Blue" He said grinning and kept tapping his fingers on my back finally I wiggled away and swatted his hands away "Yeah we learn something new every day, right?" I say catching my breath from the laughing and rolling my eyes.

I hand Blaize his pair of Eclipse glasses and put my backpack on my back "You ready to go look at the Eclipse?"

"Uh... YEAH, I'm ready. I mean technically even though I asked to take you out this would be the first time we did something outside of work, so I'm stoked" Blaize grabbed my wrist and started pulling me out the back entrance which threw me off guard, I don't mind human contact, but it isn't something that I experience normally. A part of me wanted to jerk away but a part of me felt... comfort? My stomach started to feel weird again, are these butterflies? I've never felt those before.

We get out back and before looking up we put the glasses on, it was quite dim outside you would honestly think it was nighttime when it's just the afternoon. I stood beside Blaize as we looked up and suddenly, he had his arm around my shoulder and once again I felt a really weird feeling in my stomach but also did not mind that his arm was around me.

"It looks cool, you must like the Sky too huh?" I said to Blaize. "Honestly yeah, I mean the Sky holds a lot of mystery to it. There are so many galaxies out there and they all hold something unique, don't even get me started on other beings because we aren't the only creatures in the universe other than animals and insects".

As the eclipse fully takes effect, something weird happens. A strong gust of wind begins to blow, and I don't mean just a casual high gust, devastatingly high winds. Trees start to fall, car horns start to go off, poles fall, dumpsters are either scooting on the ground or taking flight, it gets really bad. At that moment my first instinct was to grab hold of Blaize's hand and he held on just as tight as me as we made a run back into the grocery store inside was just as much utter chaos as when we emerged in the store, a part of the roof had lifted off the store and customers and coworkers were screaming, some taking cover, and what broke my heart the most was seeing some children get swooped away as they were so small and light.

"Blaize what's happening?! I'm scared. This isn't a tornado or a hurricane or anything. It feels so different!" I yelled as everything was so loud. The wind, the crashing of items, the screams. "I don't know Blue! Let's get to the office and whatever you do don't let go of me, okay?!" He said to me looking me in the eyes, I nodded, and he led me into the office where we took cover in a utility closet that wasn't the biggest but felt somewhat the safest as it was more enclosed. We had some room to spread out by all means but I did not want to let go of him.

"Are we going to die? Is this the end of the world or something?" I ask Blaize in a soft tone now as in the closet it was quieter but we could hear the muffled screams and clanging of objects through the door. "No Blue, we aren't dying, it's too soon and honestly it's bizarre what's going on but I'm not leaving your side, okay?" He grabbed my hands and held them tight. For a guy who works on top of hitting the gym, his hands were soft, and they were a bit bigger, they kind of swallowed mine but in a comforting way. At this point I didn't feel uncomfortable having this kind of contact with him so I nodded and let him hold my hands as we waited in hopes the chaos would die down.
