Awake Now

A few hours go by and finally, the woman wakes up. To my surprise she didn't scream or look frightened as she looked around the room, she slowly began to sit up and rubbed her eyes.

"Does someone want to tell me how I ended up here?" She said calmly, she had a very delicate voice with a noticeable southern twang and she didn't seem afraid at all.

"When you were tranquilized, we watched it happen and I went to see if you were dead or just passed out, thankfully you were just passed out, so I lifted you and brought you here. My name is Iris, and this is Blaize... well a sleepy Blaize" I say realizing Blaize was silently asleep with his head titled back against the wall.

"My name is Aileen, it's nice to meet you... or at least I think it is, you haven't done any harm to me to my knowledge so I feel like I can trust you" She extends her hand out for a handshake, and I shake her hand, it was soft.

"So, can you tell me what happened to you? Why did those Officers take you?" I ask and she looks down in her lap with a saddened expression now.

"They took my boyfriend away from me, we walked outside after surviving the chaos of the storm and we kissed each other because well, we were alive of course I wanted to kiss him. There were officers not too far away and I guess they saw us and began to walk over. I thought at first maybe it was just that they wanted to make sure we were okay but... they ended up shooting him... I don't think it killed him because there was no blood but as soon as they did that, they grabbed me by my arms and started to walk me far away from him to the point I could no longer have my eyes on him. I guess they got me as far away as needed because that's when they shot me with the same thing, I suppose it was because, by the time I woke up, they figured I wouldn't remember anything let alone where it was, we were before we were separated... I hope he's okay out there."

Aileen started to cry a little bit and granted she was a stranger; my instinct was to get up from my chair and sit beside her to comfort her with a rub on the back. "Hey, it's okay, I think he's still alive, we just have to find him. I know that the world has changed now and it's a lot of confusing mumbo jumbo to understand but we will help you look for him." I spoke.

Aileen wiped her tears away and looked over at me. "Do you mean it? Why are you helping me? you don't even know me..."

"Well, I think me, you, and Blaize are all very much alike. I'm not sure if you have spoken to any family since the storm other friends but my Mom is suddenly Lesbian and my dad is suddenly Gay, and it seems like the world has reverted to a form of reverse homophobia only it's worse than normal homophobia... and ironically, me and Blaize were hiding in a closet for most of the storm so maybe that's why we weren't affected by it?" I said as I continued to rub Aileen's back.

"Wait... me and my boyfriend were hiding in a closet too, we were at the movies and ran to a storage closet to take cover as the ceiling began to blow off of the current movie we were watching, and it was the closest place we could think to hide among all the people scrambling like chickens to take cover... Are you saying that anyone who hid in a closet promptly did not take up a different sexuality? But does that mean people who were already a part of the LGBT switched to being straight or were they unaffected? I have so many questions..." Aileen says as she looks out the nearby window.

"Well, I suppose we can try to do some research and see if any social media outlets have said anything about this phenomenon, or even check if anyone we know was affected that's not straight or vice versa, but also wait for Blaize to wake up," I say as I shift my gaze over to Blaize still passed out against the wall and giggle, as I and Aileen begin to explore our social media on our phones until he wakes up.
