Chapter 3- Running around aimlessly

"Ah shit-" I muttered to myself. A person was falling towards me at incredible speed. I think they were screaming too because honestly, who wouldn't if you were suddenly falling from the sky after presumably just chilling out. As they started getting closer, I noticed that they looked strangely familiar.

Wait a god damn second. That's my best friend, Kai!  Holy shit-

The distance between us started to close real fast and I was really hoping for a miracle because in no way, shape or form was I capable of catching some dude from the sky. And with that, a miracle did happen.

Almost like they planned it - and I really don't think they did- wings magically appeared at their back, stopping them from crashing into me and my horse.

I guess that freaked them out, as I reasonably think it would, because they didn't stop screaming until they touched the ground.

They landed next to me with not a lot of grace, and just looked up and stared at me.

"Holy shit dude. That's crazy. You have wings now?" I looked at them slightly shocked but not so much that it would've blown my mind. This definitely wasn't the craziest thing that's happened to me lately.

"Where the hell am I and why the fuck do I have wings." Kai said, reasonably stressed.

"Well I can't explain the wings, I'm not able to do that. But I can say that you're in middle earth. Which is really cool. But also really scary. But you're here now! So yay!" I smiled and Kai looked at me with a few emotions, one of which I assumed was confusion. I hopped off my horse and walked over to them.

"Don't you dare hug me."

Yeah, that sounds about right. Of course they would say that.

"So, uh, you have wings now? That's cool. I found out I can make clones of myself. That's also cool." I said.

"Oh god. Clones? I think I'm in hell. Am I dead? Wait you said that we're in middle earth? Like the actual middle earth ?" Kai asked back.

"Yes that one. And look! I joined the rangers and Glorfindel is here! How awesome is that?!"

Man, I don't even know how this could get any better. Both Kai and I have powers, I'm with the rangers, and so far I've met Galadriel AND Glorfindel.

"Oh great."

"Yeah! Oh and now that you're here, you get to travel with us now too. Unless you'd like to wander around and probably end up dead like I almost did. Haha. That was a joke, please don't actually do that I don't wanna see you dead." I gave Kai what I like to call the 'awkward white boy smile' and then looked towards Fin. "Hey Fin? Do we have an extra horse for Kai to use? If not they'll have to ride with one of us."

"Hold on, I want to try something." Kai suddenly looked very serious and focused. I honestly had to hold in a laugh because they looked like they were in an uncomfortable amount of pain. Not like I looked any different when I practiced cloning myself, but was just humorous to see someone else do it.

And just like that, Kai slowly transformed into a cervitaur -a deer centaur-, and the weirdest part was that their clothes morphed with them.

"Huh. That's cool. Wish I could do that. Whelp, now that you're all fit to travel, you get to walk alongside me, or really anyone of you're choosing. Oh I have so much to tell you. This is sick, dude."

And so our group walked on, along the long dirt path. If anyone was around, they would've thought that we were the strangest sight to see.

After what seemed to be forever of me being like the only one talking and the occasional question from Kai, it was time to set up camp for the night. During this time we would set up our bed rolls, someone would go hunt and cook dinner, and lastly, Fin would train me to use my bo staff. Now because Kai was here, Fin would have to teach the both of us. Thankfully, I had more experience and could practice on my own for a little while, when Fin needed to start training Kai.

Not really to my surprise, Kai's weapon of choice was the bow and apparently Fin was very happy by that choice because he had always used swords or other weapons like that so this allowed him to practice his other weapon skills. Oh joy. I swear, that elf never gets sad. He's literally so optimistic and sometimes I just can't stand it.

As I keep drilling with the staff, I also drilled some of my abilities. Creating more copies of myself became easier and when people got injured and I had to heal them, It didn't make me pass out from exhaustion as much anymore. Kai even offered to help me train my regenerative powers more by 'accidentally' cutting off my limbs. Kai and I laughed but Fin and Gamdig went ballistic. Lesson learned, don't make self deprecating jokes in front of anyone but the ones who reside from Earth.

Speaking of which, Kai can shapeshift into practically any animal imaginable, even ones that 'don't exist' like a manticore, a cervitaur as previously mentioned, a unicorn, a dragon- oh, wait. Nevermind. Dragons exist in this world. He can still become one, but I guess that just counts as a regular animal for now.

But being a ranger is fun. It means that we get to protect people from danger and kill a bunch of monsters. This can get exhausting at times but it's fun to kick people's asses for a living. But let me tell you when our small but fierce group got attacked by 9 orcs and 5 wargs. That was one of the craziest battles I ever fought. Arrows were flying every which way, I got stabbed and sliced up multiple times, and some how I still managed to kill a few of them. During the fight, I heard music, yet again. But this time Kai heard it as well so I knew I wasn't going insane! Great!

We traveled a bunch more and we met so many new cool people. One time, the rangers and I went into a tavern, and a bunch of buff dudes kept glaring at for some reason. I later found out that they wanted to kill me because I got the attention of their girls? Which, I'm honored but I didn't really like them and it's not my fault I can't read social cues all that well.

I think from my understanding, we were heading towards the Shire because the rangers kept mentioning hobbits and pointing to the Shire on the map that we had. I still have a hard time with maps and stuff like that but I can navigate around if I really wanted to. (I said, lying to myself)

~~~~~~~~~~~~time skip~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I was right. We were headed to the Shire. I was really happy because their over all life style is so comforting and I think Kai agreed with me on that.
I had to ask Fin at least like five times where we were for him to finally ask if I had some power to give me the ability to navigate. I did not, and it was sad. I'm not as bad with directions as Thorin is, but I feel like I still suck at it.
Anywho, in the Shire, I met a bunch of hobbits. They were nice and Kai kept telling me that maybe they were nice to me because I was almost their height. This of course, ISN'T TRUE YOU MOTHERFU-
Things were very peaceful for a while and then we were off yet again. This time however, we headed towards Erebor. I just know Kai was going to make fun of me because of my uncanny ability to make a fool of myself, especially in front of my favorite characters from the books. Cant wait for that to start. Hooray.
