(Rewrite) Chapter 18: Discoveries

Sorry for the wait my guys and gals. Demotivation got the best of me. Anyways, enjoy this 2250 word long chapter.

Two hours ago, during surgery.
No POV.

Rita tries to get Kasnov's heartbeat back, as she recruits a few scientists to help her with getting Kasnov back, as she is the only medic. She gets the defibrillator, putting it on 50 volts. The shock does nothing. She puts it on 100 volts. It does nothing. She puts it on 200 volts. It does nothing. She puts it on 400 volts. It does nothing. The defibrillator was maxed out at 400, and she lost all hope, but that was when Dr. L chimed in. "You know..I've done my research..and it turns out, we can get him back." Dr. L says. "What do we have to do?" Rita says, a glimmer of hope in her voice. "Infect him. I've done my research. Apparently, having a wound while you're human can easily be fixed if you become infected. I've tested it myself! On..accident." Dr. L says.

"And what if he doesn't retain his memory?" Rita asks. "Then it's a lost cause. Let's just hope he keeps it." Dr. L replies. "Fine. I'll do it. What gootraxian sample do we use?" Rita asks. "Not one that's pathetic. Hmm..how about..nightcrawler." Dr. L says. "If he doesn't retain his memory, he'll kill us on the spot!" Rita exclaims. "It's foolproof. Recent studies show that there are more cases of humans retaining their memories after becoming infected than two years ago, and it's a major increase." Dr. L says. "What are the odds." Rita demands. "92%." Dr. L replies. "Let's hope he's not part of the eight percent then..alright, hand me a nightcrawler sample, Dr. L." Rita says.

Dr. L takes out a nightcrawler sample from one of his lab coat pockets, handing it to Rita. "His life is in your hands, and I'm counting on you." Dr. L says. "Alright..." Rita replies, carefully putting the sample inside one of Kasnov's veins. Almost minutes later, Kasnov's body is engulfed in nightcrawler goo. His helmet pops off of his head, replaced with nightcrawler ears, and..purple tinted goggles that literally came out of nowhere. Rita grimaced, hoping this works when he wakes up. Suddenly, two copper pieces pop out of his body, and the wounds of which were penetrated by the bullets close, healing completely.

"Told ya so."

Kasnov's POV, Present Time

"Holy...shit." I say, reaching up for the goggles covering my face. I look down at what I'd assume to be paws, though I can't tell because of the hazmat suit covering them. 'How the hell did the hazmat suit not rupture?' I think to myself. I look down again, noticing my belt and plate carrier are still on. However, I feel a light weight on my back that doesn't seem to be my backpack, even though it's on my back. "Oh yeah, you have a tail now. Have fun with that! You lost all your human featu-" Dr. L is interrupted by me, as I slam my fist onto a table. "Shut the fuck up, or I'll make you a goo smoothie. I'm already in a terrible mood, and you're making it worse." I say, annoyance and frustration apparent in my voice. And with that, I storm out of the cafeteria, shoving past Dr. L.

"What the hell man! I just saved your life!" Dr. L exclaims. I ponder what he says for a moment, stopping myself from walking further. I wait a few seconds, turning my head to the left, before continuing my walk out of the cafeteria again. "What a dramatic exit.." I hear Dr. L faintly say. I almost turn myself back around to him, but something tells me not to, as I stop in my tracks, before continuing on to the subject cells area.

As soon as I make my way to the area with the subjects, I hear banging from one of the cells, and growling. Almost like they've gone mad. I walk into one of the cells (sinox's cell) to find out what the hell is going on, and as I look through the glass, I see Sinox banging against the glass, staring directly at me. "PIECE OF SHIT! LET ME OUT OF THIS DAMN CELL!" Sinox yells, to which I reply with "WHAT THE HELL HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU?!"
