The Bride
°•○●♡●○•°I have many regrets in life, but the main one was being born.
If I had thought hard enough, all my past mistakes could've been dodged if my mom simply took plan B.
I am making another mistake by driving home and not to the airport to leave the country.
It was still possible, but I couldn't leave Mamá alone.
She was the one who taught me how to be a human after my other parent, if I should even call him that, tried turning me into a killing machine.
So we are driving home to Mamá and I can only assume who else.
Enzo was trying to drive as fast as he could without breaking any laws, that was by my orders.
Usually, I'm all about being careless and running over people on the sidewalk while also going 100 kilometers per hour, but today I didn't have the time or the energy to deal with the police.
Finally, Enzo quietly parked the car in the garage of the Valentino Manor.
We were as quiet as possible, trying to sneak into my bedroom without anyone noticing.
We tried, and we failed.
First I felt her strong gaze piercing my skin, then I heard her powerful voice yell into the great hall.
"Isabella Valentino!" The voice echoed.
"Yes mamá" my voice sounded tiny compared to her.
She was the boss here, and she knew how to assert her dominance.
Now don't be fooled. Just because she can be the best woman and mother to me and the people I love, she is dangerous, in every sense of the word.
She walked down the stairs, gracefully, as always.
Her cat eyes scanned me and my friends as she approached me. I got those eyes from her. They made her appear ten years younger than she was.
She cups my cheek softly, giving me a warm smile I rarely see these days.
Even through these tough times, she was still the rock she always was.
She was still rational, calm, and sophisticated.
"Issa, please go freshen up and come meet the guests in my office." Her voice is soothing, trying not to trigger me.
"Who are our guests?" I ask her, wondering what her answer might be.
Mamá had her ways of answering questions. She was taught what to say, when to say it, and how to say it.
It was a key to keeping secrets within the Mafia.
She looks down at my hands which were formed into tight fists, my knuckles white from the force I was pushing out.
She parts her lips and looks back into my eyes.
"I think you already know."

I never wanted to leave this shower.
Knowing what's waiting for me downstairs it was better if I just drowned.
But sadly, I can't.
I can't let mamá down.
So I suck it up, put on my big girl pants, and head downstairs to mamás office.
I approach the door where she is waiting for me. I stand before her, head up as she always encouraged me.
