Chapter 3

6 Months later

Beth thought having 4 kids was crazy let alone adding two 6-month old's who were learning to crawl. They brought so much joy to the family but there were days when she wished they did have a father in their life. Kenny who was now 12 turning 13 soon he was growing up so fast he had stepped up so much since moving to California, it was like he knew his mum need his help more than ever.  He would always take one of the twins and keep them occupied while Beth got them all ready for school. Her first born was her saving grace on her hard days. Beth's business was doing so well she had enough funds to be comfortable and never worry again about money. Beth was looking at opening a second location but hadn't locked in a location yet.

In the middle of the night on Sunday her phone went off she looked at the screen and it was Ruby rubbing her eyes and in a daze, this was strange whys she's calling now.
"Hey B, Sarah's really bad she's in hospital I need you ...." All she could hear were sobs on the other end.

Beth was so panicked she booked the first flight out she was taking the twins and Annie with her since they still needed her, the other 4 kids still had school, so she didn't want to disturb them to much she had Sammy working for her as a full-time nanny, Greg and Nancy were happy to help with the kids while Beth was out for two weeks. In her panicked state she didn't even think about Rio till she was on the plane holding a sleeping Isabella in her arms. What was she thinking? Annie looked nervous as they stepped off the plane holding Christopher with his cheeky grin and sparkling dark blue eyes.
"Do you think he might see you?"
Nervously Beth Replied "Nah, Detroit is big enough".

She had booked an Air bnb for two weeks three-bedroom apartment close to the hospital so they weren't too far. Soon as they landed, they went straight to the hospital. Beth, Annie, and the twins both strapped in their bugaboo donkey pram next to each other cooing loudly. Soon as she seen Ruby at the foyer of hospital, they all hugged each other and cried. Ruby was a mess but now she had the support of her family there.
"I've missed you B, it's been to long"
"I only seen you 3 months ago"
"Hate you" "hate your face".

They both smiled.

Walking into the elevators to Sarah's room the hospital was huge, they stayed and sat with Stan and Ruby for a couple hours catching up and supporting them just being there before the twins got restless Annie stayed with Ruby. Beth decided to take them back to the apartment so they could nap in their cots. As Beth mind was in a trance coming out the elevators out stepped Rhea right in front of her. Beth forgot Rhea was a nurse she thought she worked at a different hospital. Rhea's eyes widened once she seen the twins looking at Christopher with his dark hair, tan skin and dark blue eyes then turning to Isabella with her curly strawberry blonde hair and bright blue eyes, they were cooing so loudly how could you not stop an stare they were so cute.

"Umm hi? Didn't know you had twins?"
"yeah, long story, sorry I've got to go the twins are due for their nap"

Beth ran out the hospital so fast she couldn't even think straight. She knew he was going to know she was in town now.

Rio's Pov: It had been over a year since he last saw her it pained him to envision her face, Rio was so busy with his business he was now King of Detroit basically putting all his effort and energy to keep his mind off the one person who made him weak at the knees.

Rios phone lit up Rhea calling on the other end.
"What's up ma?"
"You would not believe who I saw... Beth? but she had twins a boy and girl, Chris I have to ask her son looked similar to Marcus when he was a baby but with blue eyes are they yours?"

Rio was stunned his phone slipped out of his hands. He could hear Rhea on the other end, but he just had to end the call he had to process this first. Before he could even give an answer to Rhea.

Twins! He smiled he knew they were so close all he wanted was meet them he knew deep down they were his.

Couple hours later Once Rio had his head straight, he got one of his boys who they wouldn't recognise to keep an eye out for Beth and her sister at the hospital. Once he knew they had come because of Stan and Ruby's daughter it would be easy to track her now. It didn't take long they saw Annie leaving the hospital to an apartment block not too far from the hospital. Rio knew where they were staying, he just had to wait it out.

Beths Pov: Beth's mind was racing but she knew it wouldn't take long for Rio to know she was here. She was scared he would take her away from her babies forever. She stayed in the apartment for a few days, but she needed to go back to hospital to be there for Ruby. Annie stayed back with Isabella as she had a temperature and Beth took Christopher with her, he was chill and much less fussy. Beth stayed in Sarah's room for a few hours while Stan and ruby had a few errands to do. Christopher put a smile on Sarah's face he was so charming much like his dad while they played and cuddled, he put his tiny hands on her face it made Beth's eyes water it was so precious, she took a quick photo and sent it to Ruby
Ruby: Omg so cute my new screen saver now

Beth left when Stan got back, she needed to feed Isabella and get her some medication for her. She stopped into the Pharmacy a block before the apartment as she walked out. There he was standing outside his G-Wagon eyes on her then to Christopher in his pram. Christopher threw his bunny out of his pram, before Beth even registered what happened Rio was so swift with his movements, before she knew it, he was next to her and handing the bunny back to her son.


Rios Pov: Rio locked eyes with Christopher He was the spitting image of himself but his sparkling dark blue. His son gave him the biggest cheeky grin ever and pulled the bunny back, Rio's eyes watered he knew staring straight at this baby he looked like Rio just a little lighter tan but with dark piecing blue eyes. He just knew this baby was his he didn't need a test to tell him. He felt such overwhelming emotions he bent down he put his hand out to the little baby boy, and he grabbed his fingers as a hello and he the baby boy cooed at him. It pulled at his heart and knew he would never kill Beth. How could he take them away from their mother she was just trying to keep them safe from him.

"Hey mama, I've missed you" with a cheeky grin.
"pffftt .....please I can't do this right now I need to get back"

He grabbed her hand, there was still so much electricity between them just touching her and the way she held her self she was different. It was like how he had always seen her as boss as bitch.

"Please, I just want to talk Elizabeth" he was soft and alluring at the same time.

"Fine let me go and I'll message you later".

He watched her walk away pushing the pram away and disappear from the corner his heart sunk but he needed to wait for Elizabeth when she was ready. Few hours later his phone lit up with a message from an unknown number.

Elizabeth: Meet me at café Chipmunks 9:30am tomorrow.
