Chapter 6

Few days had past and Rio was basically with Beth and the twins all the time maybe going out to see Marcus or doing small jobs only he could do. Beth asked him if he was nervous for Marcus to meet the twins, it was a lot for a 6-year-old to understand that suddenly, he had a brother and a sister, but they already exist like how you explain it.

Rio wasn't too worried he said when he picked up Marcus from the school the other day, he saw the car seats and he explained about the babies he didn't know till recently about the twins and he couldn't change what happened in the past. Life works in mysterious ways, and it was more people to love and have in your life. Rio said he was a smart kid. Beth remembered he was always so kind and respectful when he was around jane.

As Beth got the twins ready for the park, Rio went to pick up Marcus from Rhea's place, Rio knocked on the door, he could hear Marcus jumping up and down he was so excited. Rhea was cold when she opened the door didn't barely look at Rio, but Marcus ran to the car, and they were off.

Beth had set a picnic basket on a picnic table with a rug for the babies while she waited for Rio and Marcus at park near her apartment block. The twins played on the rug with their toys besides them they were happy to babble on coo to themselves. She saw Rio strolling in with Marcus holding his hand basically dragging Rio to the picnic table.

Soon as Marcus seen the baby's he didn't even register that its was Jane's mum, it took him a minute he gave her to the biggest smile "I remember you your Janes mum I miss her she was really good at soccer".
"Yes, I am Jane's mum you can call me Beth, Jane still plays soccer, but we live quite far now"
Rio pick up Isabella while Beth got Christopher and sat on the table with Marcus in the middle.
"Hey pop, this is Isabella isn't she cute this is your sister and that little man over there is Christopher your brother".
Marcus shyly looking at them.
"hi"
but soon he was playing with them holding their little hands it brought a tear to Rio and Beth's eyes this moment was precious. They stayed for little bit at the park before the kids got restless as they were packed up and heading to the car, they got the kids strapped in. Rio hugged Beth from behind and kissing her neck.

"Thank you for letting the twins meet Marcus it means a lot".
Beth just smiled back "it's nothing really".

Rio dropped Marcus off at Rheas before dinner time, As Beth sat in the car with the twins. Beth felt Rhea's eyes staring her down. It didn't feel right like there was something there, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

As they were driving back to Beth's Apartment Rio had his hand on her lap.
"Can I ask you something Rio?"
"Shoot, what's up Ma?"
"Does Rhea not like or something? You know if looks could kill that was her at the door".
"it's just complicated, when you left, I was bad, and she was just there, and I think she umm fell for me, but it didn't mean anything to me we were on and off for years it never worked".
"So, she's still in love with you?"
"No, we just had sex every now and then it wasn't anything serious, its different with you I don't know how to explain it"
"Look ma, it's only been a week I'm still trying to figure this out".
pointing to him and Beth.
"But I know you have to go back to your other kids, and we just have to figure it out from there".

Car ride was silent, but he kissed her hand and gave her a reassuring gaze.

That night when they put the twins to bed, they didn't talk about it anymore. Beth wasn't jealous of Rhea she knew she had no right what Rio did before she came back. It just didn't sit with her. That night she just cuddled into him with his arms wrapped around her getting use to his scent as she drifted off to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be big day meeting his family she knew she needed as much rest as she could.

Rio woke up in bed alone, but he could hear noises coming from the kitchen, as he slowly walked up he seen the babies playing on the playpen, as we stood against the fridge watching Elizabeth she was frantically baking cookies. He watched her with amused smile.
"Ma why you stressing? It's just my grandma".
The death stare she gave Rio he just put his hands up and walked away chuckling. Laying down next to the twins as they looked at him babbling away, he knew he would miss this, he didn't know how he was going feel having to say goodbye while he lived here, and they were in another state and not seeing them grow up.

Rio brought some outfits Beth didn't know about and dressed the twins while Beth was getting ready, putting Isabella in the cutest pink dress with matching socks and bow and he got Christopher a mini button up and tiny black jeans and black and white converse and mini black beanie of course. As he was holding both the babies in each arm, Beth couldn't believe her eyes she didn't know whether to cry or laugh.

"Aww Isabella you're the most precious thing ever! .... you little man look like your dad really Rio?"
Rio laughed.
"I couldn't help it, they only had preppy boy stuff he looks good you have to admit".
Winking at Beth, Rio was basically wearing the same thing.
The twins were so amused by Rio they just hung off him while Beth touched up her makeup as Rio looked at her in a black tight sundress clinging to all the right curves spraying perfume as she grabbed her bag.
"Ok ready"
"Mmmm mama you look beautiful".
"Thanks not to bad yourself".
As she kissed Christopher on the head winking at Rio

20 minutes later and they were at a cute little quint house, well looked after it was like a little white cottage. There were a few cars parked, Beth was hesitant to walk out but Rio held her hand and gave her a reassuring kiss before getting the kids into the pram. As Rio pushed the pram to the backyard Beth was holding a plate of cookies if she knew would have cooked then cookies.

As they walked through the backyard it was Rio's whole family meeting his Grandma Rosa first, she didn't really look old quite young Beth thought, couple aunties and Uncles, Cousins, partners of cousins more kids Marcus was even there, she recognized some of Rios boy's mick, dags and Cisco it was a lot to take in.

Once everyone had sat down Rosa did a toast to welcome Beth and the twins to the family. Beth never had a big family maybe that's why she had so many kids even to fill that void in her life.

Rio stayed by her side most of the night till his Grandma Rosa dragged Beth away, they went into the kitchen as they started to put the sweets out.

"Can I ask why we didn't meet earlier?" Rosa asked.
"Moved to California over a year ago after my divorce and I guess me, and Rio weren't serious, and we weren't talking, and it was by chance that we meet again".
"I know my grandson can be stubborn please be patience with him".
"I will"
"Now show me pictures of Isabella and Christopher when they were first born, they must have been so small".
"They were, so tiny I still can't believe how much they have grown".
"Wow Christopher looks so much Rio when he was first born, Isabella defiantly has her mother's looks" Rosa winked and giggled.

"So what's going on here? Talking about me huh" Standing next to the kitchen door with Christopher
"Just showing your grandma pictures when the twins were born".
Rio looked over her shoulders and looked at the pictures and seen how tiny and precious they were. It hurt him deep down inside that his own pride was in the way of ever getting that moment of seeing them being born.

Rio cuddle into Christopher and kiss him on the head. He promised himself that he would never miss those special moments with them again.  Beth watched Rio and seen heartbreak in his eyes but something else it was the love he had for his son.
Rio was outside having a beer with his boys holding Christopher, while Mick was holding Isabella, she was pulling at his beard she thought it was hilarious her little giggle lit everyone's faces.
"Beth, come here we want to know why you named him Christopher?" Mick asked.
"Honestly I didn't have a name picked for him my daughters picked out Isabella that was easy to agree to, but the boys wanted something like Lenny ..." she laughed
"I'm sorry but there's no way he could pull off Lenny he defiantly looks like a cooler version of his dad much cuter though".
As she pinched Christophers cheeks and walked off laughing. All the guys were all laughing. Rio loved that his son named after him.

"Man, it's crazy you have twins but the fact your son is straight you".
chuckled Mick
"doesn't help He's dressed like him to even down to the shoes!" shouted Dags.
"Your just jealous you couldn't pull this off... hey Christopher".
Rio giving him little fist bump to Christopher as all the guys laughed.

Beth was just watching Rio and how relaxed he looked so chill and happy but how his family welcomed them with opened arms not prying as to why we didn't meet earlier. She felt so relived this day turned out much better than she expected.
