Maddies mom slowly walks upstairs to surprise Maddie for her first day of school but as soon as she was about to open the door she hears something from downstairs so she goes to check it out.
Maddie wakes up and sees Matt next to her. She gently shoves him to wake him up.
"Hey! How come you didn't leave yesterday? It wasn't a slumber party." Maddie says
"You don't remember do you?" Matt asks
"Remember what?" Asks Maddie
*knock knock*
"QUICK, HIDE IN MY CLOSET" Maddie whispers loudly while pushing him into the closet.
"Come in" Maddie says brushing herself off.
"Hey? Are you going to school today?" Maddie's mom asks, looking around mysteriously.
"Actually, can I start tomorrow? I don't feel all that good today." Maddie says "What's wrong?"
"Its just that I thought you were talking to someone." Maddie's mom says.
"Oh, no, I was just talking to myself" Maddie tells her nervously.
"Okay, so tomorrow it is?" "D'you want some breakfast?"
Maddie's mom asks
"Yeah!" "Do we have any bagels?" Maddie asked.
"Yeah, Do you want a bagel?" Maddie's mom asks.
"Yes please!" Maddie says.
Maddie's mom leaves to go make breakfast. Maddie opens the closet. Matt falls out.
"That was a close one." Maddie states.
"I think you should leave." Maddie says with no hesitation.
Matt says "Thanks for everything" while he heads out the door.
"NOT that way, my mom will see you. Go through the back door down the hall." Maddie said.
Maddie sits on her bed trying to remember what had happened between her and Matt last night, why he just happened to be laying next to her when she woke up. She knows they didn't do anything, because her clothes were still on and she knows she would have remembered such thing. But how in the world did the most popular guy in the school get into her bed?
Maddie start to over think things.
- does he like me?
- No, he can't. He's gotta have a girlfriend.
- What if I said something embarrassing?
- does he think I'm cute?
"WHAT HAPPENED LAST NIGHT" Maddie accidently says aloud.
Maddie's mom enters.
"Well, we had a cookout last night" Maddie's mom answers, while handing her the bagel she asked for.
"Right!" Maddie says, accepting the bagel.
Maddie's mom sits on the side of Maddie's bed.
"Maddie, I know Matt stayed over night" Maddie's mom admits
"How'd you know?" Maddie asks
"I was gonna come in and ask how your night was and before I could ask, you two were sleeping side by side"
"I didn't want to ruin the pleasant sight, so I left before you woke up" Maddie's mom states.
"MOM! I barely know the guy, I just wanted to be his friend, I never intended to sleep with him" Maddie says, lying at the fact that she really did want to sleep with him.
"Well, tomorrows a new day and HEY! He might forget about everything that happened. Don't be a downer, you got school tomorrow so, lighten up" Her mom tells her.
"Yeah, you're probably right!" Maddie says, knowing someone could never forget about sleeping with another being.
As the day goes by, Maddie still continues to think about what could have possibly been done while Matt was over there.
This situation is constantly on her mind now. She won't think of anything else. She has to get to the bottom of this.
She texts Matt, hoping he'll answer her messages.
Time goes by, without any hearing from Matt.
Maddie walks to the park hoping Matt will be there.
Just to find out he isn't there, she decides to wait on the swings. She waits for about an hour and a half, then start to head home.
Maddie texts Hope asking if she enjoyed the cookout.
Hope doesn't reply.
Maddie starts tearing up, thinking the world hates her.

Journal,
Why is it that every time I make new friends, something has to ruin it? Why did I let Matt stay over? I don't even remember what happened last night. I don't know if Hope knows or not. I really hope she doesn't. I am praying that Matt doesn't tell anyone that we -- slept together... I know it was nothing, we didn't do anything, but considering that he's the most popular guy in school, it may be a big deal... For the both of us. Knowing I'm the new girl and all. Please help me out, I don't want things to go downhill from here.
-Maddie
