Meeting the new Adopted Siblings

I didn't know what loss felt like. I didn't understand how to grieve. I never knew who my biological parents were. I was adopted out of the orphanage at a very young age by the Morinomiya's and I am forever thankful to them.

Mom and Dad has watched me grown to my teenage years along with Grandma and Saikawa and it honestly feels like family here. Unfortunately, my parents decided to go on a work trip one day and never came back. Grandma was the one who broke the news to me.

I don't think I ever cried. I don't recall seeing Grandma cry either. Not even at the funeral. Neither of us cried. I recalled seeing a boy my age and his baby brother standing at a distance too. It was a shame to learn that their parents were victims as well and they were now orphans. My heart broke at the sight of them.

"Grandma...."

"Yes Yuna?"

"There's someone over there my age with his brother. It seems like they lost their parents as well...."

I pointed towards the two boys at the opposite end of the funeral hall. Grandma faced that direction and noticed them. I know the baby boy has no idea what is going on, but for the boy, he has a very sad expression and is trying his absolute best to look strong. Probably the same expression I tried to put on when I was around the kids a the Babysitter's club after I found out the news....

"I see them. Would you like to speak to him?" Grandma asked.

"I don't know. I just feel really sad to see them and know that they have no one to look after them now. It makes me feel helpless. I wish I could be like Dad and adopt them into our family..."

-- A Few Weeks Later --

A couple weeks had passed since the funeral and although grieving was still difficult, I was able to find myself back on my feet and continue on with my life. I knew my parents would not want me in a state of prolonged depression. Plus Grandma would probably find a way to kick my butt too. Luckily, I have the support of Saikawa, Usaida and my friends as well.

I especially have support from Hayato. He and I have been friends since the start of High school, since we've been in the same classes every year. But we've been getting pretty much closer ever since Mom and Dad started up the Babysitters Club and Taka is under our care. I planned on confessing my true feelings to him after we graduate as I felt like that would be the appropriate time since we both need to focus on our studies.

For some reason I was excused from my classes today as Grandma had asked me to join her and Saikawa at the "Chairwoman's office" in the academy today.

"What's going on today Grandma?"

She was sitting at her desk with her elbows propped on the table and hands underneath her chin.

"We're going to have a special guest coming in today." She answered with a smirk.

I looked at her quizzically and then looked at Saikawa. He too had a smirk on his face.

"Oookay?"

Suddenly there was a light, soft knock on the door.

"Come in" Saikawa answered.

"Excuse me!" The mysterious voice said and someone entered the room.

My eyes lit up when I saw who it was. It was the same teenage boy and his baby brother I saw back at the funeral. What are they doing here?

"W-What are they doing here Grandma!?" I asked a bit too loudly

The boy looked at me in confusion. "I'm sorry. I have seen you but never spoken to you before" He said with an apologetic smile. Wow he seems like such a sweetheart.
