Vlad flew over the city in his ghost form. He wasn't really looking for trouble. He just felt like going out for an early morning flight before work. He flew over an alleyway, and something caught his eye. He couldn't tell what it was, though. He flew closer and noticed that it was Danny Fenton. Vlad landed next to the cold, sleeping, shivering boy. He silently moved closer, and Danny sneezed in his sleep. He watched as the boy pulled his knees closer to his chest.

'What is he doing here?' Vlad asked himself; he looked over at the boy and then looked around the alleyway, thinking. A groan pulled his attention back to the boy before him, and he looked back to see Danny waking up. The boy winced as he moved his body, stretching out his legs, yet to notice Vlad standing a few feet away.

Danny rubbed his eyes, looked up, finally noticing Vlad, and yelped. "Frootloop!" he exclaimed, jumping to his feet but stumbling. Danny reached out, gripped the wall behind him, and coughed.

"Did you spend all night out here, little Badger?" Vlad asked curiously. His eyes roamed Danny's still-shivering figure, and he noticed that his clothes were wet.

"You were in the rain last night; it stopped raining hours ago. For your clothes to still be that you would have to come here last night," Vlad said, and Danny glared at him.

"What a brilliant observation. Do you want a trophy?" Danny snapped, then coughed.

"I want to know why you are in an alleyway," Vlad said and Danny stared at him a moment before sighing, his shoulders sagged and he looked even more tired.

"Fine, you want to know why I am in this Alley. My family betrayed me; one of them was trying to kill me, and the other two killed my parents and kidnapped me. My friends are working to get rid of me. I had nowhere to go, and I was tired. This was the next best thing." Danny said, and Vlad frowned.

Vlad smiled, a plan slowly forming in his head. "Stay with me," he suggested, and Danny looked at him skeptically.

"What?" he asked, looking as if unsure of what he was hearing. Vlad couldn't blame him; they were enemies, after all.

"Come home with me. It is better than staying out here in the cold. You said it yourself: you have nowhere to go, so come with me." Vlad said, and Danny looked hesitant. His eyes lowered slightly, and he started to cough again. "I won't hurt you, Danny. I am not as heartless as you think. It would also help if you got out of those clothes before you got pneumonia," he suggested.

Danny nodded and took a step towards Vlad. Then, he passed out, and Vlad rushed forward to catch him before he could hit the ground. He sighed before taking off into the sky with Danny in his arms.
