JIMIN's POV

As I stepped into the bustling atmosphere of the New Year's celebration party, my gaze swept across the crowded room in search of familiar faces. And there she was—Y/N, standing amidst a sea of people, her radiant smile lighting up the room as she conversed with her friends, Ji-eun noona and Jessi noona. She looked absolutely stunning in her red dress, her presence commanding attention without even trying.

I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy as I watched Taehyung bolt from our group and make a beeline for Y/N. He tapped her shoulder and engaged her in conversation, his easy charm and infectious enthusiasm drawing her in effortlessly. They seemed so comfortable together, so at ease in each other's company, and I couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy at the sight.

Despite the fact that Y/N and I had patched things up and were now on friendly terms, our relationship remained somewhat...ambiguous. We weren't quite friends, but we weren't enemies either. We existed in a strange limbo of neutrality, neither actively hating nor actively liking each other. And yet, seeing her laugh and chat so effortlessly with Taehyung only served to remind me of the distance that still lingered between us.

I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to be as close to her as Taehyung was—to share inside jokes, to confide in each other, to be there for each other through thick and thin. But deep down, I knew that such a relationship was nothing more than a distant dream, a fleeting hope that would likely never come to fruition.

So instead, I plastered on a smile and joined the festivities, pushing aside my feelings of jealousy and insecurity as I immersed myself in the celebrations. After all, tonight was a time for joy and camaraderie, and I refused to let my own personal struggles dampen the festive spirit of the occasion.

As I mustered up the courage to approach Y/N, my heart pounding in my chest, I couldn't help but feel a rush of nervous energy coursing through my veins. Taehyung was off chatting with his Hwarang hyungs, leaving the two of us to navigate the crowded party scene together. Well, figuratively speaking—we weren't exactly "alone" with the throngs of celebrities milling about us.

"Hey, Y/N," I greeted her awkwardly, my voice coming out in a nervous stutter as I tried to sound casual.

"Oh... uh... hi," she replied, her voice soft and hesitant as she pushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

I couldn't help but notice how beautiful she looked, the soft glow of the party lights casting an ethereal halo around her. And those earrings—glistening in the dim light, they framed her face perfectly, accentuating her natural beauty in ways I couldn't even begin to describe.

"N-nice earrings," I stammered out, feeling a little starstruck as I tried to maintain eye contact without letting my nerves get the best of me.

She looked up at me, her gaze meeting mine in a moment of shared vulnerability. "Thanks," she whispered, her voice barely audible above the din of the crowd.

"Y-you're welcome," I replied, my heart racing as I struggled to find the right words to say. Despite the chaos and noise surrounding us, in that fleeting moment, it felt as though we were the only two people in the room, lost in our own little bubble of shared intimacy.

As the new year countdown began, the atmosphere around us grew electric with anticipation. The loud cheer of the crowd pushed me closer to Y/N, and I stumbled slightly in the chaos.

"S-sorry!" I yelled over the din, trying to regain my balance.

"It's okay! Where's Taehyung?! The countdown's happening!" Y/N shouted back, her voice barely audible above the cacophony of voices around us.

"I don't know!" I replied, scanning the crowd in a futile attempt to locate my friend amidst the sea of faces.

But as the countdown continued, the numbers flashing on the big screen in front of us, all thoughts of Taehyung were forgotten as I focused my attention on Y/N. We both looked at the countdown, the excitement building with each passing moment.

"10... 9... 8..." the crowd chanted in unison, their voices rising in anticipation.

I turned to Y/N, a smile spreading across my face as I caught her gaze. "Happy new year, Y/N. Make a wish," I said, my voice barely audible over the roar of the crowd.

She nodded in response, her eyes shining with a mixture of hope and anticipation. "Happy new year, Jimin," she replied, her voice soft and sincere.

Closing her eyes, she clasped her hands together in prayer, her lips moving in silent invocation as the final seconds of the countdown ticked away. And then, at the stroke of midnight, the sky erupted in a dazzling display of fireworks, casting a kaleidoscope of colors across the night sky.

Y/N opened her eyes, her gaze locked on the shimmering lights above us. For a moment, time seemed to stand still as we stood there, bathed in the glow of the fireworks, lost in the magic of the moment.

And as I looked into her eyes, I felt a sense of peace wash over me—a feeling of contentment and gratitude for the chance to share this special moment with her. Despite the chaos and uncertainty of the world around us, in that fleeting moment, everything seemed perfect.

For in that moment, all that mattered was the promise of a new year, filled with endless possibilities and the hope of a brighter tomorrow.

As the crowd began to disperse after the exhilarating countdown, we finally managed to locate the rest of my members amidst the throng of people. Taehyung and Y/N greeted each other with warm smiles, exchanging heartfelt wishes for the new year.

"Happy new year, Taehyung," Y/N said, her voice filled with genuine warmth.

"Happy new year, Y/N," Taehyung replied, returning her wish with equal enthusiasm.

I watched the exchange between them with a sense of longing, wishing that I could share in their easy camaraderie. But as I stood there, a silent observer to their interaction, I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy at the thought of someone else making Y/N smile.

But I pushed those feelings aside, reminding myself that Y/N was free to be friends with whoever she chose. And if that meant she was closer to Taehyung than she was to me, then so be it. I had no right to interfere in her relationships with others.

As Y/N turned to greet the rest of my members, her smile never faltering, I felt a surge of admiration for her. Despite everything, she remained kind and gracious, spreading joy wherever she went.

"Happy new year, Namjoon sunbae!" Y/N exclaimed, her eyes beaming with genuine admiration for our leader.

"Happy new year, Y/N. I'm so proud of everything you've accomplished this year," Namjoon replied, his voice filled with genuine affection as he gave her a nod of approval.

Y/N then turned to Hobi hyung, Yoongi hyung, Jin hyung, and Jungkook, wishing each of them a happy new year in turn. Her words were accompanied by warm well wishes to stay healthy and bright smiles, her genuine warmth and kindness shining through with each interaction.

Happy new year... I hope the following years allow me to grow closer to Y/N, not just as acquaintances, but as true friends who can share both the joys and challenges of life together.
