"So who dropped you off?" Regina hums subtly, her question taking me by surprise as I finish off writing down a sentence I had copied from the piece of paper in front of me.

I gulp, and press a dot at the end of the last word. "I don't think I should answer that."

She raises an eyebrow and I distract myself with clicking my pen. "Why not?" Her hand encircles mine, soothing my fidgeting of frantic movements.

I sigh softly, body freezing as I realise she isn't going to move her hand any time soon. "It was Janis."

Regina makes a noise of recognition, head bowing slightly. Cold air brushes against my skin as she retracts her hand, blue eyes laser focused on the table in front of her. "Are you two..."

"No, god, no," I brush it off immediately, trying my best to eliminate the laugh wanting to bubble out of my throat. "She's just a very good friend."

"I'm surprised she's okay that you're hanging out with me. I was a proper bitch to her for like the majority of our lives."

"Yeah," I sigh, not denying nor confirming. "She's warming to it. I think you should speak to her though, even though I keep telling her you've changed, she's struggling to believe it. She's still hurting."

"I know, I know. And I will, I promise." Regina offers me a small smile. "You can let Janis know, by the way, I don't mind." She's distracted now, finger twirling around a piece of curled blonde hair.

"Really?" My eyebrows shoot to my hairline, stomach twisting in confusion.

"Mhm, like I said I'm trying to be out now, it's only fair. Besides, I expected nothing less."

"I wouldn't do that to you," I frown to myself, "I would never out you if you weren't comfortable."

"Yeah, I know," her voice is soft and smooth, "you're a hundred times a better person than I am, but that's why I'm telling you that you can tell her, and the other two as well." I digest her words for several seconds before Regina's unsettled self pushes away from the table and stands up. "I'm just going to the bathroom, you can let Janis know to come pick you up soon, we only have a little bit left."

I pull out my phone, watching her hair bounce as she walks away, my thumb hovers over the group chat I'm in with Janis, Cady and Damian. My heart is in my throat as I type.

Me
911!
Regina George is a lesbian - confirmed

Damian
No shit
Wait did she kiss you???

Me
What no?
She told me
And she also told me she's out now so it's fine that I'm letting you know

Janis
WTF

Me
Also can you please come pick me up now?

I don't have a chance to read Janis' response as Regina returns and I slip my phone away into my pocket. We fall back into the motions of the last section of the topic, and when we're done, I pull my phone out to see Cady's message that they're caught in traffic and won't be here for another ten minutes.

"She's running late," I say softly over to Regina in the kitchen, pulling out a bottle of water from the fridge. I don't bother to mention that it'll be all three of them picking me up.

"That's okay," she sounds to be deep in thought, "do you want one?" She tilts a clouded bottle in my direction.

"Yes please."

When she returns with the two bottles, I find that instead of returning to the table, she settles on the couch a few feet away. "It's comfier over here," Regina claims, beckoning me over with her hand.
