I didn't actually notice, but Sir Pentious' hat, Alastor's mic, and Vaggie's bow all reflect on their emotions. We can't tell how Alastor feels since he's always smiling, so the only two ways to find out how he feels is his mic and his eye expression. Sir Pentious' hat is just a like Sir Pentious' twin. Alastor's mic's eye would have the same expression as Alastor, along with Sir Pentious' hat and his teeth.

Alastor's ears go down based on how his feels. Considering that most of the characters don't have ears (Vox is a TV, so it all makes sense for him not to have ears)
