--------------------------------------
Thursday brought about their next French test. Amber and Mick were stressed, but Ana was excited. French was a subject she was actually good at.
Taking her seat next to Amber, Ana set out her water bottle and pencil case. Checking her notecards she did a last minute review, reviewing her conjugations and hyping herself up for the exam.
Mrs. Andrews entered and began to call roll. When she got to Nina's name the teacher noted that the new American was late for class again... it seemed to be becoming a habit for her and Fabian.
Mara passed around the test pages to her classmates, as the group prepared to begin.
"Are we all ready?" asked the teacher looking at the clock ready to start her timer only to be interrupted by Nina and Fabian busting into the room. "You're late"
"Sorry" apologized the pair.
"Get to your places. We're about to start" rebuked the teacher. "Have you seen Patricia on your travels?"
The pair shook their heads no."Right, she'll be getting an 'F' then! We'll start the test" announced Mrs. Andrews, starting her timer and taking her seat.
Anastasia started working through the test, listening to the questions only to be interrupted by Mick calling out "Miss?".
"Yes the test's already started, Mick. Quiet, please" reminded their teacher.
"Yeah I know, I'm sorry, but it's just, I didn't catch the last bit of the first question. Can you start it again please?"
Ana winced, knowing what the answer would be. Mrs. Andrews was VERY strict when it came to her listening tests.
"You know the rules," disagreed the teacher, shutting down the boy's request.
The group worked hard until the timer on Mrs. Andrew's desk began to beep. "Okay, times up!".
The students gathered their bags and shuffled to the front of the room passing in their papers.
Ana followed Mick and Amber over to their lockers. She was feeling ok about the test, but the other two were less than happy about their performance.
"Man, I've flunked big time!" bemoaned Mick.
"Ah, don't worry boo.Who needs French anyway?" shrugged Amber, "If everyone spoke English life would be so much simpler".
"Wouldn't worry about it, mate. Something tells me you're gonna do a little bit better than you think you will" cut in Jerome, clapping Mick on the shoulder.
"What does that mean?" wondered Ana as she watched the tall boy make a swift exit, chasing after Mara and a reappeared Patricia.

Anastasia was curled up in one of the easy chairs trying to get some homework done, but Jerome and Alfie were being very distracting with their roughhousing. She had tried telling them to knock it off, but that had only encouraged them to be louder and more chaotic. Giving up, she closed her book and looked around to see what her other housemates were up to.
Nina was also reading, though it didn't look like a school book given the fantastical cover. Mick was doing dips by the doorway while Amber counted along in French while filing her nails. Trudy was in the kitchen making supper and Patricia was once again glaring at Nina. The girl really needed to get a new hobby.
