48 The Masquerade Part IV

This arrogant, self-righteous, entitled, useless fool. I think to myself as I get closer. The humans are getting more and more enthralled by the song. Not only that, but it was affecting vampires. It was as if a hunger was getting to them. This asshole has to pretend that he is so important, he will not be allowed to continue.  I made my way to Clovis as I began to get closer to him, his smile did not disappear and it was then that I felt something sharp and then the world began to go black.  No. NO. I will not be made a fool in front of my family as I force myself to stand up. As my cloudy vision begins to focus I see exactly who I should be targeting. Clovis that arrogant smile slowly starts to disappear as he realizes I would not go down again.

'You had your head clubbed in half how is he standing?' I heard his thoughts, my reply was simple though. "You will not make a fool out of me twice." As his smile began to disappear, he slowly realized I was not going down. It's then that Priscilla jumps to attack my assailant. With one swift hit, she had disarmed him. She puts his arm behind his back and I turn around, it was a human, a human had done this.

After that, I see Clovis' smile fade but I push myself into consciousness. Even though I was fighting to remain conscious, I took some satisfaction out of making sure he suffers. 'You shouldn't have been able to handle that,' he says with a shocked expression. "I shouldn't be able to handle a lot of things," I say as I put my hand around his throat. It took a lot of focus and will but I managed to do it.

It's then that his shocked face turns into a twisted smile as he said, 'I think you forgot something. You took your eyes off all the executives,' My eyes widened as I then got a faint whiff of blood and the blood began to flood my nose and I recognized the smell it was Aaron's. As I turned to see the blood coming out of his neck, it then comes to me. This was all a distraction.

His eyes began to go faint and he was dying. A vampire had torn his throat open and we had no idea who. More blood began to flow and it was then that Lilith spoke. 'Apollos, use your abilities please.' I was already preparing to but to see her prepare for me to do it was shocking. As I activate my time stop ability, I send out mental messages. Jeane and Anton follow up, "I can only move a few people at at time and Jeane and Anton are the only ones available right now." they were by my side before I could even think about it. "Get anyone in critical condition out of here make sure the president and the secret service are not harmed."

The Worl- before I could complete my words I saw my body beginning to fall to the ground first the slump to the knees then the body falling onto the white marble floor, my blood spilling and staining the red carpet. Before I could register the full enormity of this moment I realized time still froze, did I do this? Is this an echo of my life my destiny to live eternity watching my body die knowing that I couldn't help anyone, knowing that I was too weak. As I begin to accept this, something in me refuses, something in me refused to just accept death. The finality, was this true?

As time slowly began to stop, something else caught my attention. It was her: Zamiel. 'What are you-?' It's then that she puts a finger on my lip as she says, 'I'm here because you're about to die again.' Again? My mind raced, how many times has this been happening? A crooked smile formed on her face, 'You don't want to know. Just every time you die, you've gotten closer and closer to being something more, but it's time for you to forget again.' My thoughts raged, I raged against her and it was only then that the whole world had been black.

I told Apollos to activate his ability, he was one of the fastest vampires alive. It was to a point that it made Lucian question: where did he get such amazing speed especially in short bursts? 'You are here, why, Zamiel?' 'I'm here because someone's interfering with my grand plan.' 'Your grand plan?' One of my eyebrows raised dubiously, 'What grand plan could a sadistic entity like you have?'
