As I began to walk down stairs with the sparrow still perched, I then began to create small talk by asking about his life. "So, Sparrow, right?" I started. "Yes, I am a talking sparrow that ended up accompanying you." He chirped out. "Did you really know моя дедушка луней?" [moya dedushka luney?, my grandpa Luney?] I asked, not believing my eyes. "Да! And a very hard working man he was! We were best friends, and colleagues who wanted to learn as much about the stars as possible." He explained. "Did you ever find what you were looking for?" I interjected. "Нет, not quite." he sadly responded. "You see, I always wanted to view a very specific constellation in night sky, but I didn't get to find it." He the continued. "Maybe me and дедушка can help you?" I then suggested. "Maybe, maybe." He replied. "Say.. I never got your name, птица." I then said, pondering aimlessly whilst walking. "Ай..." [Ay..., a sort of sighing-like expression when used in this case.] "Don't worry about that. You can call me "Ворона." [Vorona., Crow.] "Crow?" I then ask. "Да, Crow. It is my choice of name." As I continued walking, i eventually reached the right door, and opened it to see моя дедушка watching the television contently. "Здравствуйте дедушка!" [Zdravstvuytye dedushka!, Hello (Formal) Grandpa!] "О, мой внук!" [O, moy vnuk, Oh, my grandson!] "so nice of you to visit on school day! как вы?" [kak vy?, how are you? (Formal "you.")] "Very good! А вы?" [A vy?, And you?] " I ask in excitement. "Always usual! very good as well!" he exclaimed. "She is still sleeping, no?" I then asked. "Who?" дедушка questions. "Моя бабушка." [babushka., grandma.] "Да, she is very tired." he replied. I then proceeded to whisper to the sparrow on my shoulder. "..Come on Crow! do the thing!" "What thing?" He whispered back. "Talk to him! you say your good friends, so prove it!" I then exchange. "But he won't remember me as a bird!" The sparrow exchanged back. "Maybe your voice will give it away, or how you talk! you'll never know if you'll see that constellation you didn't get to discover if you don't speak up!" I then say to boost his confidence. "Ugh! Fine! But if something goes wrong, all blame is on you, understand?" He then exclaimed. "Yeah, go ahead." I then proceeded to hold my arm out, as the sparrow perched on my clenched fist. Ouch! I definitely should make something for him later, but oh well. The pain'll be worth it soon enough. "Uhh... привет old friend! L-longtime no see. How are you today?" Crow then nervously said. "Eh?" дедушка then said whilst turning to me with a very weirded out face. "That voice.. Sounds very familiar." He then paused the television to let the moment sink in. "It very much should!" Crow then exclaimed out. "Eh... Хенрик?" [Khenrik, Henrik (A Scandinavian Male name)] "Is that your voice I hear, or am I deceived?" he then questioned. "Henrik?" I then thought to myself. "Да. It has been so very long my friend." "You are now bird? But how is this possible? You.." Before he could finish though, Henrik had reassured him it was true. "I may be a bird, but it makes me no less human than I was before." "Oй Хенрик! I haven't heard that voice in over 30 years! You are well now, no?" He then happily shouts. "Well enough to come visit you again after those 30 years." Henrik then says. "Is best thing you have done for me today Artiom! Спасибо! Большое спасибо!" [Spasibo! Bol'sho(y)e spasibo!, Thank you! Thank you very much!] "Don't Thank me, thank "Henrik."" I then say in response, happy for the both of them.
A happy day for Henrik "The Crow"! Reconnecting with what he had previously lost. It turns out friendships do last, As this reconnection may further help in his favor.
