Chap 7: The Bathtub

We cycles back to Mike's house.

Mike's in the bathroom helping El clean up.

Me and Dustin are hanging out on the couch when my walkie goes off. I quickly take it out of my bag putting it on the table. Lucas. We try to make our what he's saying but it's a bit hard.

Dustin runs over to the bathroom and bangs the door open. "Guys. It's Lucas. I think he's in trouble" they all rush over to the table.

"Do you remember how he said he was looking for the gate"

"Yeah"
"Nope" I shake my head.

"What if he found it?"

Mike takes the walkie out of Dustin's hand. Lucas shouts but we can't make out anything that's he's saying.

"What's he saying?"
"I don't know, he's way out of range"

Mike presses the button to talk to him, "Lucas, if you can hear us, slow down. We can't understand you"

Lucas shouts some more, "Mad hen. Does that mean anything to you? Like a code name or something?"

I finally heard a proper sentence from the walkie, "The Bad Men are coming!"

"Bad Men" Mike repeats. "Bad Men!" He shouts in Dustin's face.

"Stay here" and with that he runs upstairs.

I hear him ask his mom if she ordered any repairs today.

Me and Dustin go upstairs to look through the front windows. We see a whole bunch of white vans. They park at the front of the house. One of them looks through their window and spots us. We quickly shut the curtains closed.

We run to Mike, "Mike!", "One second!". Mike!" We both yell at him.

He turns his head to look at us.

"We need to leave... right now" Dustin says out of breath and we run back to the basement.

We grab our stuff and go out the door in the basement. We all get on our bikes and cycle away from Mike's house.

We stop for a second though. Some of the men see us and stop. "Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go!" Dustin reminds us that we have to keep moving.

"Oh, my god. Oh, my god" Dustin panics.

"It's official. We're dead!" I confirm nodding my head.

Dustin's walkie goes off, "Dustin, Dustin, do you copy?"

"Yeah, Lucas, they're on us"

"Where are you?"
"Cornwallis"

"Meet me at Elm and Cherry!"

"Copy. Elm and Cherry!" Dustin shouts so everyone around him can hear. "Okay!"

We cut through someone's back yard and onto a main road, then we cut through someone else's backyard past some girls. "Out of the way! Out of the way!" They both quickly move backwards.

We arrive at Elm and Cherry, and Lucas joins us.

"Lucas!"
"Where are they?"
"I think we lost them"

Just then the white vans show up behind us.

'Go, go, go, go, go!"

"Faster, faster!"

"Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit!"

A van turns the corner coming straight for us. It doesn't stop.

One second the van is one the ground, the next it's flying above our heads. My mouth falls agap. Amazing.
