Chapter 3: The Martians' side

As the afternoon started to come, the Martians ceased their attack. They start to form a defensive barrier around the landing site with the materials they have. They're digging a hole with their embankment machine, this hole will be filled with explosives and other chemical compounds, as to form their latest technology, Black Smoke. 

Years ago, as they tested the smoke on some innocent Martian Cattle, the effects were amusing to most. During the first 10 seconds of exposure, the subject will have completely blacked out. There's no way to prevent this, as when you're engulfed in this dense cloud of toxic gas, there really is no escape. After that, the body will start to rapidly deflate, as the blood will have vaporized into thin air. That's right, VAPORIZED. All that's left of you, is only your bones and skin, you mar appear untouched, but everything blood based in your body, is gone.

And that's not even the only one, I'll tell you what. There's actually 3 versions of the Black Smoke, the one you just heard about is the vapor version, spread around by air. 

The second version is the canister eject version, as its name implies, the smoke is carried as a powder in a metal canister, before the powder is repurposed into smoke, and launched out of a tube bearing strong resemblance to a Panzerfaust Anti Tank Grenade. 

The final variant is the high explosive smoke charge, though it may seem similar to the C.E version, its smaller, lighter tube makes it so that it can be launched at a mass rate. This version uses a cartridge inserted to the smoke launcher, the operator can either fire all 10 canisters at once, or fire them separately. Due to an H.E Charge implanted in the back of the canisters, they travel faster and farther too.

As the day draws to a close, the Martians have finished their trail mix- I- I MEAN SMOKE MIX.

And they have also finished their latest weapon, the Fighting Machines. Their first attack 14 years ago utilized heavily reinforced and technological based FMs, resembling a flat, horizontal egg with struts on it. When that failed, the advanced FMs proved to be effective, but were seriously expensive to make, and required master skills and a whole load of resources. This time, they're keeping it simple, just a water tower-like machine with tentacles and eyes.

As soon as night comes, the first water tower- I MEAN.. Fighting Machine, was brought up to be activated. Inside, there are 2 Martians who are willing to test it out. The eyes glowed, as a sign of activation. The Machine started crushing trees and knocking them over with its huge legs.

Not only that, but a storm is apparently coming too.

As the second Machine rises, it took them no time at all to find Gelatin's Steakhouse. It was far away, though with their size, it should take no time at all to stride there.
