Chris' POV:
The following morning I wake before Sophie does so I just lie beside her, watching her sleep. It sounds creepy but I can't bring myself to look away. We didn't actually go to sleep until very late into the night so I don't want to wake her. I know she doesn't have anything planned since she was supposed to pick me up at the airport this morning so I wait until she wakes up on her own. I just wish I could do this everyday. I wish we didn't live so far apart but the distance and time apart makes the days together so much more special. When I'm in Boston, I'm counting down the days until I'll see her again. When she left Boston after her vacation I was amazed by how much I missed her after only knowing her for 2 weeks but I couldn't deny how important she became to me.
She starts to stir in her sleep and I see her eyes flutter open before she meets my eyes. She smiles up at me before closing her eyes again. "Good morning" I say before kissing her shoulder. "Mm, good morning" she replies as she shuffles towards me. I chuckle as I wrap and arm around her and pull her towards me. "So what are we doing today?" I ask after a minute of us just lying in each others arms. "Actually, how do you feel about meeting Sarah?" she suggests, tilting her head up to see my face. "I'd love to meet Sarah. Finally, after everything I've heard about her" I answer with an encouraging smile. "Ok, I'll call her and see if she can come over today" she replies with a cheerful smile.
An hour later, Sophie and I are up and dressed and ready for Sarah to arrive. I'm a little nervous because I know how important she is to Sophie and how important Sophie is to her. I want her to know how much I care about Sophie and I want her to like me. What if she hates me? "Your thoughts are very loud right now baby" Sophie comments as she makes her way towards me and I chuckle at her. "She's gonna love you. She already does to be honest. You have nothing to worry about" she assures me and I nod at her. "Ok, thank you" I smile, already feeling relaxed about it.
A few minutes later, there's a knock at the door and we both stand from the sofa. Sarah lets herself into the apartment while Sophie and I approach her. "Hey babe" Sarah greets Sophie with a friendly hug and I smile at the nickname. I always wondered what Sarah called her when Sophie told me Jake was the only one who called her 'Soph'. I guess there's my answer. "You must be the famous Chris" Sarah states as she turns to me with a smile. "Yeah, it's great to finally meet you Sarah" I answer and before I can offer my hand she pulls me into a hug. It shocks me at first but I return the hug with a smile. I look over Sarah's shoulder to see Sophie chuckling and shaking her head at Sarah. We pull apart from the hug and Sophie walks around to stand beside me, wrapping her arm around my waist. I rest my arm across her shoulders as we all make our way to sit in the living room.
We talked about all sorts of things for hours before we decided to order some food as well. Then we all laughed while eating the food, Sarah and Sophie telling stories about them both getting into trouble and I can't help but laugh at them both. You'd think they've been friends since they were children but they only met in college and have been friends for almost 7 years. "Here, I'll take the plates" I offer, unwrapping my arm from behind Sophie and pecking her cheek. I take Sophie's plate from her, stacking it on my own before taking Sarah's as well. I make my way into the kitchen but not without hearing Sarah, clearly believing that she's whispering. "He's very PDA. I love it" she attempts to whisper and I hear Sophie shush her while laughing at her. I can't help but smile at the comment, I am pretty PDA but Sophie's the same with me. I'm just glad it sounds like Sarah likes me.
Later that night, Sophie and I have cuddled up on the sofa, Sarah having left about an hour ago. "So did I pass?" I ask with a grin. "What?" she looks at me confused and I laugh at her. "Come on. You mean to tell me she didn't whisper something in your ear when she hugged you before leaving?" I question knowingly. It was a long hug and Sophie chuckled before pulling away. "Ok, she did. She said that she likes you. She said she sees how happy you make me" she explains with a shy smile and I lean down to kiss her cheek. "You make me happy too" I state happily and she smiles back at me.
"Sweetheart, can I talk to you about something?" I ask after thinking about it for a few minutes. "Of course you can" she answers, sitting up to give me her full attention and I can't help but smile at the gesture. "I wanted to ask about your parents. I've met Sarah and I would love to meet your family. I just haven't heard much of anything about them" I state cautiously since I know barely anything about her family. I know that she's an only child and she's mentioned her parents a couple of times but that's it. She takes a deep breath as she looks down at her hands and I suddenly feel terrible about bringing it up. "I'm sorry. I don't have to meet them if you don't want me to. I just don't know anything about them" I assure her. I have no idea why she doesn't talk about them but I know that all families are different and I'll wait until she's ready to tell me.
"It's ok. I knew I'd have to tell you, I was just avoiding it" she says with a small smile as she looks back at me. "I'd love for you to meet my parents too but you can't. My parents... died a few years ago, in a car accident" she explains, making me feel even worse for bringing it up. "Oh my gosh. Sweetheart, I'm so sorry. I had no idea" I apologise, reaching for her hands and lacing our fingers together. "It's ok, you couldn't have known. I never told you" she reassures me with a smile. "It was just the three of us. No siblings, no aunts, no uncles, no grandparents. They were my only family. And now Sarah's my family" she elaborates with a sad smile and I can tell she misses them. I can't imagine losing both parents so suddenly, especially so young. "I'm sorry, I can't imagine what that's like" I say, unsure of what else I can say. "Thanks, I just don't talk about it much" she smiles, shuffling towards me while keeping our hands entwined. "Well, you can talk to me about it anytime. I'm here for you" I assure her, wrapping my arm around her and pulling her into a hug. "Thank you" she sniffles before kissing my cheek and settling back into the sofa to watch the tv.
