Sophie's POV:

I rush to grab my bag and jacket when Chris texts saying he's downstairs. He tried convincing me to give him my room number so he could come up to my door but I refused to give it to him. I exit the lift to see him waiting at reception in black jeans and a blue button down tucked into the waistband. He looks so incredibly handsome and I suddenly feel underdressed. I'm wearing a maroon dress, the skirt cutting off above my knees. It's a casual dress that I wear often but it's the fanciest thing I packed for this trip.

"I hope I'm not too underdressed, I didn't pack for dinner dates" I say when we meet each other. "You look beautiful" he states with a confident smile. But the compliment causes my breath to catch in my throat. Why do I find it so hard to believe? I've spent the last month questioning everything about myself and now that a wonderful man has told me I'm beautiful, I can't believe it. "Shall we?" he asks while offering me his arm. "Yes" I smile and hook my arm into his and he leads us out of the hotel, to his parked car. As the gentleman he clearly is, he opens the passenger door and closes it once I sit inside before making his way around to the drivers side.

"I still think I should've picked you up at your door" he states before pulling out onto the road. "Maybe next time" I chuckle. "Or maybe you can walk me up to my door later" I suggest with a smile and he grins over at me before looking back to the road ahead. "So where are we going?" I ask while looking out at the streets passing by. "It's a little restaurant in town. They have a good variety of food which I thought was good since I don't know what kind of food you like" he answers with a tentative glance at me, likely to gauge my reaction. I smile over at him. "That sounds great. You're sure I'm not dressed too casual?" I question since I feel too casual for a restaurant at 7pm. "Don't worry. You look amazing" he assures me and I feel the blush creeping up my neck, to my cheeks.

Once we're sat at our table, Chris and I start scanning the menu. He was right, the menu has so many different types of meals that this place could accommodate anyone, no matter what their favourite meals are. We order a few minutes later before we start asking each other questions. I couldn't help but ask about acting, his Captain America movie did really well earlier this year and the whispers about more movies have not gone unnoticed by me. "So why'd you choose acting? Any roles lined up?" I ask with a cautious smile. I didn't ask him at all yesterday because I didn't want him to think I'm talking to him because of his job. I didn't recognise him at first anyway, it wasn't until hours of talking that I realised why he seemed familiar.

"So you do know who I am" he states with a small smile and I suddenly regret saying anything at all. "I didn't realise why I recognised you until after we'd been talking for hours and I didn't want to say anything in case you thought that's why I was talking to you. I think you're really great so I felt that you should at least know that I recognised you. But I promise that's not why I'm at dinner tonight" I do my best to assure him and make my intentions here clear because I don't care about his profession at all. I'm interested in him, not his job or money. I hope he believes that.

He nods slowly before smiling up at me. "It's ok. I'm reluctant to tell people because a couple of women have talked to me and gone on dates with me because I'm an actor" he explains and I feel so guilty about not telling him yesterday. "Oh Chris, I'm so sorry. I should've told you yesterday that I knew who you were. I just-" I start apologising again, feeling terrible that women have used him like that. "Sophie, it's ok. Don't worry. I appreciate you telling me now instead of keeping it to yourself" he assures me with a chuckle and I seem to relax at that.

"No one should've used you for your status or money. It's not fair. It's inhumane. You don't deserve that" I state with a sympathetic smile. "Thank you" he smiles back before sighing deeply. "Anyway, why have you always wanted to visit Boston?" he asks and I take the change of subject as a hint. "I honestly don't know. I think I've always thought of it as peaceful and quaint. I needed somewhere peaceful to relax" I answer, starting to realise what I need from this trip. I need the space to find myself again. Jake and I had been together for 2 years and it all ended within a few minutes. I need to find out how to live without him again while rediscovering myself.

"So you've taken a 2 week long vacation for peace?" he clarifies since I clearly answered his question from yesterday. "Yeah. The last month has been kind of difficult and I think I needed a break" I elaborate, not feeling as reluctant to tell him as I did yesterday. How can I already be so comfortable with him? "I'm sorry to hear that. I hope everything's ok" he responds with a kind smile and I see the sincerity in his eyes. "Thank you. I do feel like I should tell you though" I say, feeling nervous to tell him about Jake. What if he doesn't want to continue to talk to me when I'm fresh out of a breakup? But he deserves the transparency.

"You don't have to. It's up to you what you tell me. We only met yesterday" he smiles and I smile at his understanding. "I know but for the sake of being honest and transparent, I would like to tell you at least the basis" I state with an assuring smile and he nods, giving me the chance to continue. "A month ago, my boyfriend of two years and I broke up. I found out he was cheating, which is why the last month has been so difficult" I explain, avoiding his eyes while dreading his response. But I'm also trying to focus on not crying at this beautiful restaurant while on a date with possibly the most amazing man.

"Sophie" he calls, urging me to meet his eyes. I gaze into his, trying to read his expression before he finally speaks. "He clearly didn't realise how lucky he was to have you. I'm sorry, I can only imagine how difficult that was to find out" he says kindly and I feel like the tears are about spill from my eyes. "That's so sweet. You're gonna make me cry" I reply with a chuckle and grab a napkin when a tear runs down my cheek. "If you aren't ready to date again then I understand" he states, giving me the out he must think I need. "No, it's not that. I'm not still hooked on him at all. He was unfaithful and there's no way I would go back after that. It's just the hurt that still hasn't gone away. I was hoping this trip would fix that" I quickly assure him, I don't want this to stop and I need him to know that. "But if you aren't interested anymore then I'd understand" I add, giving him the same out that he offered me.

"No that's not what I'm saying. I'd really like to get to know you more if you're up for it. Your past relationship doesn't bother me at all, only that he hurt you" he answers and I smile at his final comment. He knows all the right things to say and it never fails to make me smile. "I'm definitely up for it" I smile and he smiles back happily.

We finish our meals and Chris pays, despite me insisting on at least contributing to the bill, and we're heading back to the hotel. He parks up outside before turning to me and I look at him, not wanting this night to end. "Do you mind if I walk you up?" he asks, gesturing up at the hotel. "Not at all" I smile before we both get out. We walk through the hotel while chatting and make our way up to my floor. I lead him to my door before turning to him.

"Thank you for a lovely night" I thank him with a smile, watching him intently. "Of course" he nods while rolling on the balls of his feet and his hands in his pockets. "We should do this again. I know a few places I think you'd like" he adds and I smile at the assumptions that we'll meet again. "I'd like that" I agree before we both stand in silence. I wait a few seconds to see if he's going to kiss me but I assume he doesn't want to overstep after I've told him about Jake.

Fuck it. I lean up and pull his face towards mine, smashing my lips to his. He stands stunned for a couple of seconds before his hands rests on my waist and pull me towards him. His lips finally move against mine and I move my hands from his cheeks to the nape of his neck. We pull apart slowly and I rest my forehead against his while resting my hands on his shoulders and lower my feet flat against the floor. "I wasn't sure if you'd be comfortable with me doing that" he whispers with his eyes still closed. "I figured. That's why I kissed you first" I reply with a smile and pull my head back and he opens his eyes when I do. We smile at each other before he pulls me back against him, kissing me again.

We say our goodbyes at the door and I enter my hotel room as he makes his way back out of the hotel. I call Sarah straight away and she answers before the first ring even finishes. "Tell me everything!" she exclaims as soon as her face appears on my screen. "He kissed me!" I scream.
