Nusi and Uncle were sitting at the table eating their breakfast, when Uncle said, "This is the day you start working at Mr. Lees Pop Shop." Nusi just growled as she ate her breakfast. "You don't want to be late on your first day." Uncle said to her.

"I know, I know," Nusi said in a matter-of-fact voice.

"Well off with you." Uncle said with a smile as he handed her a lunchbox and kissed her goodbye. School went by fast, and after school all the kids were heading down to the beach.

"Come on Nusi, aren't you going?" said her best friend Nari.

"No, I can't, todays the day I have to start working at the Pop Shop." Nusi said in a huff.

"OH, that's right Nari said with a smile. I don't know what you were thinking when you did that." Nari went with the other kids to the beach while Nusi headed to the Pop Shop. Nusi stood outside the Pop Shop for a minute before Mr. Lee saw her and said,

"Come on in Nusi and get to work." He handed her a mop and bucket and pointed to where there was soda all over the floor. "Some kids thought it would be funny to throw bottles of pop at each other and run." He said with a frown. Nusi looked at the floor and thought 'why would kids do this.' Then remembered why she was there. She pushed the bucket with the mop and started cleaning up the mess. As she was cleaning up the mess, a group of kids from the High School came into the shop. She could hear all the joking and laughing as she mopped, but the joking and laughing soon turned to taunting and name calling. Then she heard a loud crash, followed by another. Nusi came up from the aisle to see the kid's throwing things on the floor and breaking bottles of pop, while two bigger kids were holding Mr. Lee back. Now it is well known in the fishing town, that Nusi had a temper, and was not one to shy away from a fight. Even when it came to kids two to three years older than her, she could hold her own. When she was little, her uncle taught her how to fight so she would never be anyone's fool. So, when she saw Mr. Lee being held back, and the kids breaking up his store, she saw red. Like the sudden rush of a summer thunderstorm, where the wind is hot and breaks the mighty branches of the oak, Nusi unleashed her fury on the kids closes to her. Next, like the flash of lightning, she took out the next two. Everyone looked as the four kids lay bloodied on the floor. No one was laughing now. She turned her attention to the two holding Mr. Lee, and with a glare that would instill fear in the wildest beast, she said in a low growl,

"LET HIM GO!" They did as she commanded, and slowly backed towards the front of the shop. Just before they had made their escape, she commanded in a deep angry voice, "I WORK HERE NOW, AND IF YOU DISREPECT MR. LEE, YOU ARE DOING THE SAME TO ME! AND I WILL FIND YOU! NOW GRAB THESE FOUR AND LEAVE BEFORE I CHANGE MY MIND!" They gathered up the four, and quickly left the store "Thank you" Mr. Lee said. "I don't know what's gotten into these kids anymore, must be those damn video games." Nusi smiled and said,

"They won't bother you or any other shop as long as I'm around." Mr. Lee smiled and handed Nusi her mop and bucket again. Later that night as Nusi and Uncle were eating dinner Uncle looked at Nusi and said," I heard what happened today at the shop, and you know how I feel about fighting, and with that said, I'm very proud of you". Either one said another word while they ate their dinner.
