From the time Nusi could remember, Kwan Chew was always there.
Kwan Chew lived down the street from Nusi. Her family and his spent a lot of time together. All the holidays, most weekends, and they even vacationed together. Kwan Chew and Nusi had always been in the same classes at school, went to the same church, and ate lunch together almost every day when they were in school. Kwan Chew is an average height, dark hair cut in a bowl style, needs glasses when he reads and is a bit on the chunky side. He has light brown eyes, and fair skin. When it comes to sports, Kwan is just a bit on the slow side, which suits him fine, because he was never really into any sports anyway. Kwan didn't have a mean bone in his body. Everyone liked him. He was always smiling and joking and had a lot of friends. Nusi knew from the day she met him, and always told him and everyone else, that she and he would be married one day. As she always said, he was her destiny. He never had a girlfriend because Nusi made it known that he was spoken for if he liked it or not. Truth be known, he really did like it and could never image any other person he would want to spend the rest of his life with. Nusi had it all planned out. When they would be married, where they would live, how many kids they would have and their names, and even the name of their dog. Kwan would sit for hours as Nusi went on about their lives while she practiced how to write her name. Mrs. Nusi Chew, Mrs. Kwan Chew, Mrs. Chew, Nusi Chew. There were a lot of things they didn't have, but a fairytale romance wasn't one of them. While Nusi was mopping the floor, she noticed a black scuff on the white tile floor. 'This won't do at all', she said to herself, as she
began scrubbing the floor in a frantic way. The mark wouldn't come off. She dropped the mop, got down on her knee and began scrubbing even harder. The mark remained. "YOU THINK YOU HAVE GOTTEN THE BEST OF ME!" Nusi shouted at the floor. "I HAVE YET BEGUN TO FIGHT!" She shouted.
Taking her nails, Nusi was trying to scratch the mark off the floor. She was so focused on that mark that she didn't notice someone had walked in. Scratching and fussing even more, Nusi was lost in a world where her and that mark were in a death match that she was determined to win. Kwan, who had just walked in, saw Nusi on the floor fighting with the mark. He stopped and stared at her, as he had no doubt that she would eventually win this battle. Slowly he snuck up on her, step by step, inch by inch. This was his chance to scare the daylight out of her, like she did to him so many times over the years, 'almost there', he said to himself. -And "GOTCHA!"
As he grabbed her sides. Before he knew what happened, and before she knew what was going on, Nusi spun around, and unleashed a round house kick connecting on Kwans jaw. Kwan stumbled back before he slumped to the floor, dazed and bleeding from the cut on his lower jaw. Realizing what she had done, and who she did it to, Nusi grabbed Kwan by the shoulders screaming,
"KWAN! KWAN! ARE YOU OK? KWAN!" Tears rolling down her face. "KWAN!" She cried. As Nusi's face came into focus, Kwan looked at her and said in a raspy voice, "gotcha." Nusi stared blankly at him for a few seconds, tears still running down her face, as she realized what he had tried to do. She pushed him away from her with such force his head hit the floor making an awful thumping sound. His eyes rolled back up in his head. "OH MY GOD!" Nusi screamed as she picked him up. "Kwan! KWAN! Speak to me."
Kwan slowly opened his eyes, still in a fog from hitting his head, saw Nusi and said,
"I must be dead, because I see an angel." Nusi shook him saying,
"SNAP OUT OF IT!" Kwan shook his head as he woke up.
"Oh Nusi, I love you," he said. Then rolled over and threw up. Nusi patted him on the back as he did his thing, with a smile on her face, thinking to herself, 'I love you too.' And that's how they are now, always have been, and always will be until the Lord takes them up to heaven.
