The gentle shaking of my shoulder jolted me from the depths of sleep, Khloe's urgent whisper cutting through the haze of dreams. Blinking sleepily, I squinted up at her silhouette hovering above me, the soft glow of dawn filtering through the curtains and casting a warm hue over the room. "Karmen, Karmen," she whispered urgently, her breath warm against my ear. Startled by her sudden appearance, I jumped slightly before Khloe's laughter filled the room, her eyes twinkling with mischief as she apologized for startling me.

"Sorry, didn't mean to startle you," she said with a sheepish grin. "I was wondering if you wanted to come for a walk with me?"

"Yeah, sure," I replied, sitting up and stretching. "Let me get dressed, and I'll meet you out there."

The salty tang of the ocean air greeted me as I stepped outside, the rhythmic sound of crashing waves instantly soothing my senses. Walking alongside Khloe, I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace wash over me. The sky was painted in hues of pink and orange as the sun began to rise, casting a golden glow over the tranquil scene.

"How are you?" Khloe asked, her tone soft and sincere. "Like, really?"

"I'm doing okay," I began, exhaling slowly. "I had a doctor's appointment recently for a check-up."

"And?" Khloe prompted, her curiosity evident.

"Well, she ran some tests and basically told me that due to my past eating disorder, my periods are incredibly irregular," I explained. "It's like a rollercoaster - some months I'll have it for the entire month, then nothing for six months, and then just a few days. Once, I even bled for three months straight."

"I'm sorry, Karmi," Khloe said, her hand reaching out to squeeze my shoulder in a comforting gesture. "You know, I struggled with infertility too, and so did Kim. Surrogacy is always an option."

"Yeah, I know," I sighed, feeling a pang of sadness. "But at least you and Kim got to carry your own babies. I won't even be able to do that."
