After the eventful lunch last week, I found myself in better spirits. It was a day filled with filming the reality show, which meant a trip to the hair and makeup department was in order. But today held an additional layer of excitement because I was scheduled to visit my mom's house, where she had something big to reveal. A mix of nerves and anticipation swirled within me as I entered her kitchen and took a seat on one of the barstools.
"So, what's the big news?" I couldn't contain my curiosity, my eagerness to hear her announcement.
"Well, as your manager, I think this is really good for you, and you should do it," my mom began, a knowing smile on her face.
I leaned in, my eyes shining, "Okay, tell me!"
"I've booked you a movie," she exclaimed, the excitement in her voice infectious.
I couldn't help but gasp in delight, "Oh my God, what's it called?"
"It's called 'Love Affairs.'"
"Wow, do I have a co-star?" I asked, wondering who I might be sharing the screen with.
My mom's grin widened, "Yes!"
"Who is it?" I pressed, my curiosity piqued.
She leaned forward, her eyes dancing with anticipation, "Michael B. Jordan."
A thrill ran through me. "Oh, that's cool! Who else is in it?"
"Well, that's all they've told me so far. They want to do a chemistry reading, so you'll have to go to that. If all goes well, and of course, if you want the part, it's yours."
I nodded eagerly, "Okay! When is it?"
"10:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning," she revealed.
"In six days, got it," I agreed, my mind already racing with thoughts of the role and working alongside a talented actor like Michael B. Jordan.
But there was more on my mind. "I also want to call a family meeting, and I'd like to talk to you about it right now," I said, shifting the conversation.
"Okay, what's on your mind?" My mom's brow furrowed in curiosity.
"Remember when we used to do those big family holidays together?" I asked, a hint of nostalgia coloring my words.
My mom's eyes softened with fond memories. "Yeah, I do."
"Well," I continued, "I was thinking we should do another one again. What do you say? Do it the old-fashioned way, and everyone puts their pick in a hat, and we draw names."
My mom's face lit up, "That sounds like a fantastic idea. I'm all in. We'll need to call a family meeting, though, to discuss the details."
"Great," I said, relieved she was on board. "I'll text everybody tomorrow, and we can decide on a good date."
My mom had a suggestion, "Why not make it Sunday? It might be easier for everyone to plan."
I agreed, "Sunday it is. I'll send out the message to the family group chat."
"Perfect," she said, her enthusiasm matching mine. We had exciting times ahead, both in my career and with the family, and I couldn't wait to see how everything would unfold.
