jamie's point of view

trevor and i were sitting on the couch with some hockey game playing in the background, we had been talking about the roadie we have coming up in a few weeks, starting off our season. i had noticed trevor seemed distracted by his phone for some time now. that was confirmed when i heard

"shit" trevor spoke quietly, still looking at his phone

"you okay there bud?" i ask

"yeah sorry ellie's best friend was just texting me about ellie"

"is she okay" i question again, very worried

"i don't know, tate thinks she relapsed" he said, stressed

"what do you mean relapsed?" i asked him worried. i mean relapsing could be a million different things

"oh fuck you don't know. when ellie was in high school she had a really bad eating disorder"

i stayed silent not really knowing what to say to that. i mean eating disorders are no joke and something i'm not really familiar with

"she's better now right? i mean how did it all start?" i question, mentally smacking myself beside the head as you probably don't just ask how someone's anorexia starts "sorry, if that's okay for me to ask"

"no it's okay, she probably wouldn't mind you knowing" he responds leaving me to let out a sigh of relief

"when ellie was a sophomore in high school, her cheer coach made a list of rules the team had to follow which included a very strict diet and excessive exercise schedule that all the cheerleaders had to follow. i what been the first to notice her weird antics, she would work out twice a day on top of practice. she would never eat breakfast or lunch and would usually find some lousy excuse of why she wasn't eating dinner or would only take the vegetables served with dinner" he muttered out, i can't even imagine how that was for her. and her whole family

"i tried to tell myself that i was just over analyzing and that she was actually fine but she really really did not look fine. but i never said anything, it wasn't until griffin had found her in the bathroom making herself throw up when he finally told our parents. i'm always blaming myself for letting her get bad before she got help. she's just always been so closed off. but after that day when she admitted to get help, i've always been more gentle to ellie" he says, he's voice slightly shaking

"wow man i'm so sorry, i can't imagine how that must feel"

"it's okay, i just can't help but always feel worried about her"

"so by relapsed does that just mean she hasn't been eating again?"

"yeah that's what tate thinks, i'm
not surprised her coach i've heard is a hell of a person"

"wow that's awful man she really doesn't deserve this at all. i'm always here for you and your family"

i smile at his words and also at the fact that he trusts me enough to drop
something like that on me

all of ellie's actions from over spring break are all making sense. that running, small portions, and saying she's already eaten. it all makes sense. i frown to myself at the thought of her thinking her body isn't worthy of basic attention
