Amelia's pov–––
Once we arrive I try my best to encourage Scarlett to stay in the car but she was insistent. I reluctantly give up and walk begrudgingly to the door to my old apartment. The door has an old lock that no longer serves its purpose, so I don't bother searching for my keys. With a deep breath I push open the door allowing a breeze of stale alcohol wash over us. I grimace in disgust and embarrassment.
"Sorry" I offer meekly, sending Scarlett a small smile. Scarlett returns it and continues to glance over the apartment in pity. I hate pity.
I let Scarlett follow me down the hallway to my room and let out a sigh of relief to see nothing in my room has been damaged. A worried expression dances over Scarlett's face in response to my room. It's pretty plain with faded and stained bedding that's at least five years old now, a dented bed frame and a large duffel bag that held all my clothes tucked away in the far corner. I move to reach under my bed, grabbing my backpack that contained my phone, laptop and school supplies. The only thing on display was a row of pinned up ballet certificates.
"You dance?" Scarlett questioned cautiously.
"Yeah" I murmur, pulling the certificates down and stuffing them into my duffel.
I move to leave the room. Scarlett takes a moment to come to terms with the emptiness of my room before turning to follow after me. I head to the bathroom to grab my toothbrush, hairbrush and skin care.
"The outset?" She grins. I glow red in embarrassment.
"It was a gift from Lauren" I smile in fondness of the memory.
"Ah who's she? Lauren? Do you go to school with her?" She asks hastily.
"No. I don't go to school. We dance at the same company. She's a year ahead. I'm moving to her level next month after my exams" I respond
"Oh" Scarlett thinks over my school comment but decides to drop it "what grade are you in then?"
"Advanced one. Technically I'm too young for advanced two but I've worked hard to take the exams early" I grin, proud of my achievement. A smile stretches across Scarlett's face.
"I like seeing you so passionate" she comments warmly. I blush in response and lead us out of the apartment.
Once we enter the car I can't help but grin in relief that we avoided my mother. If she saw us I knew I would be in for a mouthful. I sigh and sink into my seat as Scarlett pulls away and drives us back to hers.
Sorry it's so short I just wanted to get something out. If there's anything you would like to see in the future do get in touch I would love to hear your ideas <3
