"Friendship is bliss, they say. You cannot choose your family, but you can surely choose your friends. Life comes with many choices, and you have to pick the best one. The blessing is bestowed upon you when you start an unconventional friendship, and it becomes the best thing that happened to you.”

“And you know what? Prisha came as a blessing in my life. I will cherish her forever.”

“But don’t you feel left out when either of you gets busy with your own set of friends?” One of their friends asked.

“No, why would we feel like that? We give space to each other, I can’t force her to include me everywhere, and I won’t do that. We have our personal spaces, and we respect that.” Tarini responded.

“ We complete each other in some way or another

“ We complete each other in some way or another. Yeah, people feel we’re not meant to be together, but we are exceptions.” Prisha adds to what Tarini said.

“If two alike people come together, life can’t be exciting, or it may be, but we have much more fun when we are distinct. “ Prisha says, side-hugging Tarini.

Prisha and Tarini have been together since eleventh grade and now they are studying fashion. They happen to be opposite poles in nature, yet they share a very sacred and beautiful bond. They argue, fight, and there are times when they don’t talk, but they reconcile quickly. That’s the beauty of the relationship that they share.

The girls excused themselves from their friends as they had to visit the library. As they entered the library, Tarini remembered their first encounter in eleventh grade.

“Thinking of our first meeting?” Prisha asked.

“Yeah, you emerged as a saviour that day, Prisha.” Tarini glanced at her, as they entered the library.

“Prisha, I didn’t think that we would come a long way. That day, I found a sweet friend in you. You were so simple and polite back then.” Prisha adores her.

It was the second day of the eleventh class. Tarini was in the library; searching for some books. She didn’t want to miss out on her curriculum, being the studious girl she was.  She was pulling out the books when someone bumped into her, and all the books fell off her hands.

When she looked up, she found her classmate laughing at her. She is Shikha, a spoiled, rich brat. She thought that the school was her personal property.

“If you can’t help, do not laugh. And what is there to laugh about?” Tarini asked courageously.

“Oh, Ms Tarini! How will you clear the eleventh grade when you can’t even handle your books? I was just trying to check if you can handle anything that comes your way, but you lost it.” Shikha replied.

“We will see who clears the grade, and who stays behind. Of course, your stars won’t favour you every time. Teachers would know your reality soon.” Tarini taunted her.

Shikha raged, she didn’t want her to tell her secret of cheating during the exams to any teacher. She was about to slap Tarini when someone held her hand. The newcomer glared at her.

“Don’t consider that others are weak. Their silence is not their weakness. Remember, silence echoes louder than words. She has not done anything, but she can do it. And, dare you, I should not see you around her again!” She jerked her hand.

It was Prisha.

“I am glad you responded back. Girls like them need to be replied like that. Rich girls like them think they are superior, but they are not.” Prisha looked at Tarini.

“They’re under the ground as much as they’re outside.” They said in unison and laughed.

Ever since then, Prisha and Tarini have become best friends. They understood that they complement each other well. They not only became best friends, but teachers to each other. Prisha taught Tarini to be bold and respond back, while the latter had the art of loving and expressing deepest emotions to give to the former.

Seven years have passed, their friendship remained intact till date. Tarini snaps out of her thoughts when Prisha nudges her. After taking the books, they hit the CCD.

“Hey, what happened?” Prisha asked.

“We have come a long way, Prisha,” Tarini remarked.

“Mutual feelings, Tarini. You know, I have realised that only love can’t fill all the voids in your life. Some voids are filled by friendships.” Prisha expressed her feelings.

“Yeah, we’ve not been just friends; we have evolved in our personalities, and we have also evolved into a bond where differences don’t matter

“Yeah, we’ve not been just friends; we have evolved in our personalities, and we have also evolved into a bond where differences don’t matter. I am glad I found you, Prisha.” Tarini said her heart felt full at the moment.

The two friends stare at each other for a good while until their order arrives. Their friendship is like coffee—a perfect blend of bitterness and sweetness. And that’s what friendship is all about.
