mandy's escape | season 2
Once more, Amelia found herself navigating the familiar streets, but this time she was accompanied by a motley crew of companions. Debbie, Carl, Hank, Emmy, and Logan walked beside her, their footsteps echoing against the pavement in a symphony of laughter and chatter. The air was alive with anticipation, each member of the group sharing in the excitement of what lay ahead.
Leading the way were the kids, their youthful energy palpable as they forged ahead, their arms laden with bags of food generously provided by Logan.
Debbie's laughter bubbled up like a bubbling brook. For in that moment, surrounded by friends old and new, Amelia knew that she was exactly where she belonged. Amelia's sleeve fell over her hands as she walked picking at the sweater and slowly unraveling it. "Thought Ice cream would make you feel better." Logan held the can of soda in his hand turning to her.
"It's okay," Amelia admitted knowing that she wanted someone to care about her. Felt like Lip was the only one, but not know how she felt about that anymore. "I thought he liked me. But he loves Karen...Doesn't he care?"
As the weight of the truth settled between them, Logan remained silent for a moment, his thoughts racing as he processed the revelation. It was a truth that had lingered unspoken for far too long, yet now, in the quiet stillness of the moment, it hung heavy in the air, undeniable to all who bore witness.
Finally breaking the silence, Logan nodded his head in acknowledgement, his expression softening with understanding. "I care," he admitted quietly, his words carrying the weight of sincerity as he met Amelia's gaze with unwavering honesty.
A smile of relief graced Amelia's lips as she turned to face him, gratitude shining in her eyes. "I fell in love with him... He's my best friend," she confessed, her voice filled with both longing and resignation as she spoke of her unrequited love for another.
As they watched the kids disappear around the corner of the street, Amelia's thoughts turned towards the uncertain future that lay ahead. "I'm thinking of leaving, again. My gran is in New York," she revealed, her tone tinged with a hint of sadness at the prospect of parting ways once more.
Logan's brows furrowed in concern, his voice laced with scepticism as he questioned her seriousness. "You're serious?" he asked, searching her eyes for any hint of doubt or hesitation.
Coming to a sudden stop, Amelia turned to face him fully, her gaze steady and resolute. It was clear from her demeanour that she was indeed serious about her decision. "Don't tell anyone," she implored, the weight of her words hanging heavily between them.
After a moment of hesitation, Logan simply nodded his head in silent agreement, a gesture of trust and understanding passing between them. "Thank you," Amelia murmured, a sense of gratitude washing over her as she leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on Logan's cheek, a silent acknowledgement of their shared bond and the trust they had forged.
