Hi 👋🏾

I hope everyone is doing good! It's been SO long!

I lost my grandmother and namesake the week after posting the last update, so my world was upside down for a while. I just wanted to apologize for the delay.

It might happen again sometimes, simply because life is lifing as they say lol. Anyways, enjoy the chapter 🫶🏾

SPENCER

Olivia and I were good... or at least, we seemed good. I was still walking on eggshells, not certain of what her next move would be. She looked too calm and relaxed to my liking, knowing what had happened a week earlier.

I wanted to believe the peace, but I knew that woman better than any other person.

"Hey, babe."

I walked in her house with her favorite food in hand, for our weekly movie night date. She was wearing one of those tight dresses that only she could pull off so attractively, while looking studious at the same time. She sure had a talent for that.

Maybe I was just very biased.

"How was your day?" She asked, taking the bag from me and opening it excitedly.

"Bad. Where's my kiss?"

She giggled and spun around towards me, before pulling me in for a kiss.

"Now, ask me about my day again." I joked.

She playfully rolled her eyes at me before instructing me to wait for her in the living room, while she made our plates.

"Guess what I did this week?"

I  absently questioned her with a look as I searched for a movie on the TV.

"I planned a press luncheon for you, to find you a new PR team. Am I not the most proactive girlfriend?"

I stopped in my tracks, immediately looking at her.

"You did what?"

"What? Now that you've fired crazy ass Ryder, we need to find you a good team, willing to do the work for the right reasons."

"And one you can control."

"That's not why I did it, Spencer."

"Then why? I told you I was handling it."

"Oh, like you've been handling it so far?"

Silence immediately took over. We stayed in a staring contest for the next few minutes, none of us wanting to back down.

"I thought we were good."

She stood up and walked around the couch again, towards the kitchen.

"We are good, Spencer. I don't know why you're mixing everything. I'm talking about your career, not our relationship."

"Then, why the rush to replace Ryder? I've already fired her, don't you think it's already enough."

"Oh my God, you're being so frustrating right now! This is not about Ryder or anything else than finding you the right team to manage your business deals! Why is it so hard for you to imagine that I'd want that for you?"

"I've been wondering why you've been so calm about the whole situation, but now I understand. You were simply getting ready to get overly involved!"

I stood up, getting heated over our conversation. Olivia was doing what she had always done, which was not trusting my judgment on important matters. It was as if the situation with Ryder had managed to take us back a thousand steps behind.
