"Mom, dad, this is my friend, Dylan." Shawn announced as he walked through the door.

His mom and dad looked away from the tv screen and stared at me with wide eyes. I was confused. Did they think I was weird? Was I ugly? I slightly waved and smiled a small smile at them.

His mom and dad turned to Shawn with the biggest smile on their faces.

"Mom, introduce yourself." Shawn laughed.

His mom hugged Shawn very tightly and her eyes started to water. Does this kid not have friends or something? Why are they so surprised to see someone with their child?

"Hi Dylan, I'm Karen." She smiled at me and shook my hand.

"Hi." I smiled.

"I'm Manuel but you can call me Manny." His dad said shaking my hand.

"Nice to meet you guys."

"We're going up to my room." Shawn told them.

"Leave the door open." His mom yelled as we walked up the stairs.

"Mom." Shawn said showing annoyance but a smile crept on his face while doing so.

"Did you see his smile? He's happy. That girl made our Shawn happy." I heard his mom say before I entered his room. That would be why they're shocked to see me. He's depressed. The way he acts at school is the same way he acts at home.

I walked around looking at things in his room. He had a lot of pictures of him and a girl that looked kind of like him.

"Who's this?" I asked curiously.

"That is- was my sister Aliyah." He said sadly.

"Oh, uh, I'm so sorry." I said awkwardly.

"Oh no, it's okay. She died a couple years ago." He replied with a sad tone.

"How old was she?"

"She was 6." He sad smiled.

"How did it happen?"

"Cancer. They found it when she was a year old. She fought a long battle but her body couldn't handle it anymore and she let go." A tear fell as he remembered.

"That must have been awful. I'm so sorry."

"My parents took it really hard. She was the spunkiest 6 year old in the world." He smiled at her memory.

"She was beautiful." I smiled at her picture.

"So anyways, did you do that algebra assignment?" He replied changing the subject.

"No." I chuckled.

"Neither did I. It's kind of sad that we're the only juniors in algebra. We're kind of stupid." He laughed but it seemed he wasn't kidding.

I laughed along with him. "We're not stupid," I said. "We're just slow learners." I smiled at him.

"I'm going to go get candy and we're going to binge watch Grey's Anatomy. Sound good?" He stood from his bed.

"Sounds great." I smiled.

Right after we left I looked around his room. I've always been nosey when it came to other people. I snooped in his drawers and found something horrifying.

A razor blade.
