Dear Dairy,
This is my first time actually writing in a dairy. The only reason I even bought this dairy is because my friends said " having a dairy is one of the best and mature thing to do " so since then I have been working very hard to get enough money for a dairy.
So I am your typical, Nigerian house girl. Jane Bassey. I am seventeen years old who was born in the village but at nine brought to the city of Lagos to work as house girl.
Presently, I live with my rich, wicked aunt. My aunt has four kids.
Sometimes I wander how I ended up as a girl, if I could actually change and reverse time, if I could hold power without doing evil.
" Jane!!" Now that is my aunty who I call the screamer. Her actual name is Kindness Chibuke, she is the exact opposite of her name, that's why I gave her the name that fits a part of her. Ha
" I am coming ma" I answered. I rushed downstairs, like really fast. I came downstairs just to see Dindu crying. I am so dead.
Dindu is the last born which makes her a spoilt rat or brat whatever they call them. For the record my aunt does not joke with this one.
" Why she dey cry ?" My aunt asked getting aggressive.
" I know no. I dey do walk tey tey " I defended.
" Eh. Now I know. You dey mad, instead of you to be working hard, you are busy doing witch crafts in my house" she said, giving me a slap which we call back hand slap.
Let's skip this part; this actually happened three weeks ago.
Let's just say, I am good at writing English, but speaking English is the worst thing I'll ever do cause I either mix it with pidgin or Igbo.
So, I was walking to school alone today, normally, I walk with my friends or my boyfriend but I left earlier because my aunty was still asleep and my uncle is around and whenever my Uncle is around, I get to be treated like a normal house girl but when my auntie's sister is around, I get to be treated like their family.
That's why I always want her to be around. Thank God sef, she's coming to our house next tomorrow. In Lagos, walking alone means , someone can kidnap you or steal from you. That is the Lagos I am walking in. I live in Banana's Island but my school is in the rural side of Lagos, that makes it very far away from my house.
" Junction liver." The bus conductor yells. " You dey go Junction liver?" He asked and I eyed him up and down as if he has gone mad. First of all, I don't have enough money.
" You go pay my transport o" I said walking away.
" Abeg dey go. Children like you no get sense" he insulted and I turned to face him.
" Na you no get sense. Idiot, mumu. " I fired back.
" Your father" he stretched his hands out. "See me see wahala I go slap you o" he threatened.
" Eh. Come and slap. See my face, slap ni, slap ko. " I dared him.
He came closer and people gathered to hold him.
" I go kill this girl I" he yelled.
" You. Kill me, you no sabi kill simple cockroach. You wan kill human being" I laughed triumphantly. " God go punish you and your generation" I cursed him and it made him more violent.
" Conductor calm down" a fair young woman said.
" Wetin happen sef?" A woman that was close to the fair young woman who was trying to calm the conductor down.
