Back on the ship again

The walk back to the ship seemed to take forever, Alex at this point was exhausted from her sleepless night and yesterday's craziness, her body ached, her eye was dry and she was admittedly feeling pretty grouchy.

Normally she wasn't all that bothered by Haruta's constant chatter, but this morning she was slowly getting irritated by it.

However the old geezer's loud voice was much more vexing, so much so that Alex was really considering throwing the next passersby at him, just to shut him up for a minute. Probably wouldn't be fair to the poor Fishman that got chucked, but still, it was becoming more appealing the more she thought about it.

Although perhaps the irritation was Alex trying to cope with how she was feeling deep down, she may not have realised it, however the girl wasn't doing particularly well in the emotional department. Everything had really gotten to her, yet trying to actually process those hard feelings was another matter entirely.

Old habits die hard, and these habits were pretty damn old. This was the only way she knew how to express herself, the only way she felt she was allowed to express herself. Even if she had come to the conclusion that bottling up all these negative thoughts inside wasn't good, Alex still couldn't let that weakness show.

The girl had been doing it for so long time that she didn't even realise she was. It wasn't something she could unlearn within a day, it was going to take a lot of time.

The ship finally came into view, never in a million years did she think she'd be pleased to see it. Maybe now she could go hide for a bit, the ship was big enough, she knew there were empty rooms, surely she'd find one that she could take some time to herself in.

Alex's friends needed help, they needed her...

But Alex also needed some time alone, she really needed to process what had happened without anyone loud or annoying near her.

So of course someone loud and annoying came along...

It was dumb Baguette. And for some unknown reason had decided to douse himself in the smelliest deodorant, it made her face screw up as soon as he jumped down from the ship to greet them. His scent overwhelming as it hit her sensitive nostrils, her eye watered as she clamped her good hand over her nose, in a sad attempt to save her nasal glands from the odour.

"Where the hell have you guys been? Marco's been a nervous wreck"

"Shit happened" The old geezer replied rather bluntly, Baguette narrowed his eyes, crossing his arms as if that made his dumb stern face look any better. His eyes drifted up to where Namur was being held "Shit! What happened to Namur? Is he okay?"

"Told ya, shit happened. An' he's fine, think he might have a broken leg. Anyway shut up, you're bein' too fuckin' loud, I don't want ya wakin' him."

What now? What shall I do? What was she supposed to do? On one hand she really did want to hide, have some peace and quiet. She was tired, she really did want to relax... However, despite Alex's grouchy mood and emotional turmoil, she wanted to be there for her friends more.

Well that answered that issue, maybe once her friends were okay, then maybe she would go away, find a little hole to shack up in, until then she was going to have to suck it up, stop being selfish.

Alex spun around, suddenly realising that Haruta had disappeared, she was immediately hit by anxiety, her annoyance with all their talking forgotten. Where had they gone? She thought it had gone too quiet...

Frantically searching for her friend, however stupid stinky bread head was all she could smell, she began to shake slightly.

Calm down Alex... they're fine... I'm sure they're okay. They- nobody is going to hurt them, just like Namur, Bread face is worried about him. So- so they'll care about Haruta. Right?
