————————-Pov Percy——————

It was a normal day in New York. I was just walking around near the museum when I thought I saw someone familiar so he walked closer and he knew it that was them .

I followed them back to a school called Yancy academy (dumb name but whatever). I could never find a way to confront them because their was always someone around them so I just decided to camp out on the roof and steal food from the trash (kids throw out so much food at school) but I could never find a good moment to talk to them, it took two months but they were finally leaving the school I followed them to the bus station and. They were together again but then had a thought "what if he is going to take her to just like he took them" and so with that last thought I decided to protect this girl from whoever the man with the crutches is.

I got on the bus and luckily my necklace hid me enough that nether of them saw me. We got off at New York and, yes she separated from him. I followed her to her house but I didn't want to be creepy so I didn't just walk in because that would give the wrong impression so I waited until I felt it was long enough and knocked on the door.

"Yes hello can I help you" the woman who I assumed was the girls mother asked.

"Yes hello I was home alone in the building a couple blocks down and the power went out and I am home alone and nobody from any of the other buildings would answer and so I would like to ask if I could stay at your house until my mom gets back" I repeated the reason I created in my head in the most timid voice I could muster hoping I wouldn't have to use, that voice to convince her.

"Oh my lord yes please come in, are you okay where are you're parents I am sure they must be worried sick" she replies much to my surprise and glee

"My stepdad Gabe took them on vacation to Cancun before I got back from school and didn't tell me. I found a letter when I got home today and I can't call them because they don't have service there" I explained

" oh my gosh that's terrible how could he do that" the girls mom said looking so sad I almost thought she actually cared, but no one cares about me anymore.

"Who knows what goes on in that fat head of his except poker and food" I replied with real anger flowing in my face before I composed myself again "so can I please stay just for a couple days" it was finally the part where I would have to go all out to convince her

"Yes of course you can, we have a spare bedroom you can use" I almost fell at her response but quickly righted myself

"Thank you so much how can I repay you" I said putting on the happiest face I can.

"No need its fine although you will have to stay with my husband for a couple days because me and Annabeth are leaving in a wile so tell me what's your name" she said with more happiness I was used to from an adult.

Thinking for a second I answered "Peter Johnson" sure she would recognize my name at least a little

"Well Peter you can stay in the room to the left over there and the bathroom is the door next to it" she replied with a genuine smile but behind her I could see the girl I was supposed to protect from the man in the crutches, who's name I now new was Annabeth. Had a suspicious glance which was not completely unwarranted.

As soon as I saw her face I registered what the woman had said. she was leaving. What no what if HE followed her what if he hurt her. I don't even know her but what if he took her or god forbid hurt her or her mom who I have known for what three minutes but had already shown me more kindness than every other adult I have known. I couldn't let her get hurt. I won't let her get hurt.

Annabeth and her mom (who's name was sally I'd discovered) had packed up and were about to got in their car to leave but came to say bye "bye Peter sorry I couldn't be here longer to talk, but if you have anything to talk about Paul can help you ok" she said with a smile that reassured me of my determination to protect her and her daughter from HIM.
