From her kitchen bench in New York, Tree had done a little squeal when Taylor had asked her for her number, excited for her friend.

After about an hour of contacting people, Tree finally had Travis' personal number and texted it to Taylor.

🌲: [Travis Kelce]

Taylor liked the message and quickly got to work figuring out what to say, writing the draft in her notes app of course, so she didn't accidentally send it before it was perfect.

Not wanting to chicken out, she barely re-read it before copying it to a text to the number Tree had just sent her.

And then she threw on phone at the floor and didn't dare to check it.

Travis had been at the gym when the text came through, so he didn't see it until an hour later.

Unknown Number: Hey Travis, it's Taylor S. Thank you so much for the kind words about my show, but I'm sorry to hear you left a little disappointed. I'd love to get that bracelet off you if you still have it?

What. The. Fuck.

It had to be Jason, right?

So he called the number, ready to yell at Jason for messing with him.

"Hello?" A very feminine voice answered, and Travis immediately realized it was not his brother.

"Uh, hi, umm, is this Taylor?" He stuttered, completely in shock.

"Yeah, it is. It's nice to meet you, Travis."

A moment of silence washed over the conversation, and he heard Taylor giggling breathily.

"I've gotta be honest with you, Taylor, I was at the gym when you sent that text so I didn't see it until just now, but I was so certain my brother sent it to mess with me." Travis sat down on the floor, not wanting to get his couch too sweaty, and ran his hand over this hair. "I, uhh, sorry if I seem really shocked I just wasn't expecting it to actually be you. I didn't think you'd see the podcast so I'm really sorry if I said anything you're not cool with."

"No, it was fine! I just wanted to thank you for saying all the kind things about the tour, I know my fans will probably freak out over the bracelet though," she said, laughing.

"Oh yeah, I have the bracelet here for you," he said, standing up, stretching his sore legs and walking to his kitchen. "Can I switch it to Facetime?"

"Yeah, of course," Taylor tried to sound like she wasn't anxious about him seeing her for the first time, without any makeup on.

As if he had read her mind, Travis looked down at his phone and whispered, "Gosh you're so beautiful, Tay."

It was so out of the blue that she didn't even know how to react, mumbling out a soft, "Thank you for saying that." She didn't dare look at herself in the Facetime, knowing she would be blushing so much that she'd want to run and hide.

In Travis' kitchen, the bracelet sat in a dish with a few other items, like his keys and a pack of gum.

"Here is it," Travis said, flipping the camera and picking it up, to lay it flat in his palm. "I had to do Chiefs colors, of course. That's my team, if you didn't know."

"I know," Taylor had a little smirk on her face, looking down at the simple red and gold bracelet that Travis had actually made for her. Then she noticed all the other bracelets in the dish. It looked like there were about 10. "Trav, is there more under your hand?"

She couldn't see his face, because the camera was still flipped to show the bracelet, but she knew he would be doing that sheepish grin she saw on the podcast.

"Uh yeah, I got most of them at the show but I made this one." He untangled one from the colorful bunch, and stretched it out for Taylor to read 'super bowl era".

She laughed so hard, throwing her head back. "Well I'm an Eagles fan, so the Super Bowl didn't go so well for me, congrats through."

Travis asked her about her upcoming shows in Santa Clara, and she told him about her plans to announce 1989 Taylor's Version in LA in a few weeks. He told her about how the football season was going, and answered all her questions about life in the NFL. She had started getting ready for bed when he asked about her cats, who were still in New York while she toured, and he told her about Chauncey and Rambo and his 3 little nieces up in Philly.

Eventually, she decided she really should go to sleep, considering she would have a run of shows in a few days.

"Of course, sorry I didn't realize how late it was getting. Have a good sleep beautiful, and umm, I might talk to you tomorrow?" He asked, and she giggled at his nervousness.

"Yeah, I'll call you in the morning. Night Trav."

"Night Tay."

He hung up the call, but didn't move from the kitchen bench he was leaning against. What the fuck had just happened? 3 hours ago, he was at the gym and now Taylor Swift was promising to call him in the morning.

In Santa Clara, Taylor crawled into bed with the biggest, cheekiest grin on her face. She knew it was too early to get excited about anything, but she knew that maybe she might have accidentally developed the teeny-tiniest little crush on Travis Kelce.
