The morning started peacefully. Taylor had helped Travis upstairs when they'd woken up on the couch in the middle of the night, and now, snuggled under the covers together, they were both so glad they'd taken the effort to move to the bed overnight.

Sunlight streamed through the white drapes, covering the window, and an artificial coolness swept across their faces, circulated by the slow-spinning plastic fan on the ceiling. Travis woke up first, and immediately noticed his girlfriend snuggled up to his torso, but avoiding his leg, even in her sleep, to make sure she wasn't hurting him. He brushed a stray hair away from Taylor's face and a moment later, her nose scrunched up in the most adorable way that he was obsessed with. Her eyes stayed squinted.

"You awake?" he whispered, voice raspy and tired.

A few seconds passed, and Travis thought she really was still sleeping, before she whispered back, "No, I'm asleep."

She gave him a sleepy, playful smile, with her eyes still closed. As soon as she opened her eyes, however, her face was hit by the sunlight streaming into the room. She groaned and hid her face in his chest. "Ugh, so sunny."

He chuckled, feeling her head bounce softly as his chest rose and fell. They laid there in silence for a few moments before she asked, "how's your knee feeling?"

Shit. He'd forgotten about that. "Doesn't hurt right now. But I'm sure it will when I stand on it."

"Ok," she mumbled, still half-asleep. "I tried not to touch it during the night."

"Yeah, thanks baby. You were fine."

Taylor just hummed in agreement. "You're morning voice is so hot."

Travis laughed again, forever surprised by the way she was constantly funny, often without even trying to be.

"Can I ask you somethin'?" he mumbled into her shoulder, placing a kiss there at the end of his question.

"Mhmm, wassup?"

"Would you be ready to meet my mom soon? I mean, you already know she'll be at the game you're coming to in a few weeks, so would you want to meet her before that?"

"Umm, sure. I mean that sounds remotely terrifying but I want to meet her before the game so, yeah I guess."

Travis kissed her shoulder again, sucking a little this time. "It won't be scary, Tay. She's gonna love you. Plus, I won't be able to come back to the house to introduce you two on gameday, so I think it would be a lot easier for you if I could at least introduce you to her first."

She took a deep breath. "Okay, yeah. That still sounds scary, like, hanging out with her at the game after I've only met her once, but it'll be a lot easier if I meet her with you than alone."

Travis rolls over to grab his phone from the nightstand. "Could we do lunch in a couple of days? Saturday maybe? Oh, it's already past eleven AM," he said, chuckling.

She laughed with him. "That's fine, babe. I can make lunch for us all here."

He kissed her shoulder again and pulled her back under the bedsheets to snuggle for a bit longer.

A few hours later, after Taylor made French toast for brunch, they were snuggled up on the couch watching the end of some Guillermo Del Toro movie that Travis had never heard of. Honestly, he didn't understand why they were watching a movie in Spanish, but Taylor had asked to watch it because it was one of her favorites. He had to admit, other than having to read the translated subtitles the whole time, it was a pretty cool movie.
